I will take Ross' suggestion for the knife. It is hereby dubbed the "The Usual Suspect Knife" aka the TUSK

It appears there is a genuine interest in this project. So I'm going to ask ya'll to give me a count. Who is genuinely interested in getting this knife made?

What are we asking for? Well, the group on the chat room has pretty much solidified it to:

  • *Mini Commander (Yes, waved, what the Hell are you thinking!)
    *Real Satin finish (if possible)
    *Plain edge
    *Serial Number (if possible)
    *Inscribed:

The Usual Suspect TUSK
    Emerson Knives Forum
    2001

    or something to that effect

Bolsters may be a possibility

I would like anyone that wants a TUSK to e-mail me.

I want to be able to give Derek perspective numbers when I call him on Monday.

We'll form two lines. Line One is "I want one (or more)! You can count me in!". Line two is "I'm very interested and will buy one if the price is right".

We need fifteen to twenty knives to make it a reality. You know I'm in and I'll go out on a limb and say DavidT is in for one. (He's probably stuck to a wall via wall paper glue and can't get to the computer) That's two, who's in?

You can e-mail me at jdhollister@juno.com

I will let everyone know more on Monday, after I speak with Derek. Specs subject to change pending EKIs position on our requests.

Thanks guys. This'll be very cool.

I'm in if the knives would be ready at the earliest in 4 or 5 months ( i ship for MCRD on the 22nd ) or if I could hold off on purchasing one until then. I would have preferred a Commander but what can you do

I got another idea.. I was looking at the Microtechs and they had a run where they had a different logo on the blade ( the one with the bird claw accross the blade ) and it looked bitching. It would be cool if we could have something like that on the top side of the blade and the 'The Usual Suspect..' engraving on the back. Just my opinion.

Mail call.

Just to add my .02 for the other thread (BTW, sorry I missed you guys last night - seems like it was a lively time. $*%$# work got in the way, AGAIN)

Anyway, I agree that it should be, if at all possible, a somewhat special knife. I love the blade engraving, and I hope they're serialed. Bolsters would be amazing. A skull clip would rock, but isn't the whole point of the CommandAir to NOT look "menacing"?

Micarta would be cool... and maybe BB the liners...In any case, like I said to John - I'm in!

Mail! John, I will definately take one. One suggestion, in line with other Emersons, just TUSK and serial # otherwise its too cumbersome.

We have had a good start with the responses. Some included suggestion . . . all good! Keep 'em coming.

The inscription has been the subject of some suggestions. Here are a couple of the suggestions:

The Usual Suspects Knife
2001

TUSK (Serial Number)
2001

The Usual Suspect Knife TUSK
2001

I kind of like:

The Usual Suspect TUSK
2001

Notice that in the suggestions, "Emerson Knife Forum" may be dropped, the theory being that Usual Suspects are the Emerson Knife Forum.

Thoughts?

John, you have mail !

As far as the inscription goes, I prefer the first suggestion of:-

The Usual Suspects Knife
Serial No. ###
2001

Any other ideas ?

How about:
Usual Suspects
TUSK serial #
2001

------------------
Carpe' Diem
Usual Suspect AKA Tattoo

I prefer simply "TUSK" with the serial number. I don't think we need to advertise who we are. Saying "The Usual Suspects TUSK" is redundant. Just my $.02.

John,
put me in for one...as far as the logo I agree the imple the better...I will email you

John, mail call.

I also agree with regards to the logo. The more simplistic the better.
What about blue anodized liners?
