The Versatile Trail Hawk

Great video there. Never realized the versatility of a hawk in the wild. Am I the only one who was impressed by his hand eye coordination?

Well I guess if you use it enough, just like a hatchet. You will just get used to it.
Nice vid! This actually makes me want to go oh and buy now. Lol. I didn't think that they would that versatile in the woods. Hmmmm.....

I've been using my trailhawk like this for years. It is very versitile. I too got rid of the set screw. I found the the trailhawk, and a smaller fixed blade will do most of what I need to do in the woods.

Yep, a trail hawk and a SAK is all I've ever needed. In the process of cutting the hammer pole off though. I'll see how the balance is afterward.

that made me pumped!!!!!! i have been thinking about getting one from cold steel but now i am sold. thanks for the vid

I'd be very interested in hearing the results! Keep us posted.

I've broken 2 heads throwing them (yeah, yeah), but for my basic woods needs, the perform well. I got enamored with throwing tomahawks and bought 5 of them for practice. Handles too. Alot of handles. On the 2 I broke, CS just wanted them back ,and new heads were sent out immediately. I even told them how I done it.

Both heads cracked 2" back from the edge, on the bottom toward the top. I assume thats where the HT changed from hard to soft. I love mine, I just dont' get to take them out much. Here's a pic of one I took to the Chimneys once,

What's that? A Becker in the pic? I don't know how that happened!:D

Good stuff, IA, thanks. Moose

Thanks Scott, I enjoy you knives. Especially the Bolo you made for Estela. I will trade you some vids for knives!!! It is a win win ;);)

:D Be nice if you could come out this way sometime and hook up with our group for a trip.
BTW, I've got two trail hawks headed my way. Thanks

Scott

This couldn't come at a better moment; I have two trail hawks waiting for me at the post post office  Thanks for the great review (I was sold even before watching it :D)

Moose- Were either of those busted hawks ones that you ground the poll off of? And, I have to say, the etching/carving you did on your haft is badass.

I've carried and used tomahawks for 20 years now and have tried several production hawks during that time. By far, my favorite has been the CS Trail Hawk. Lighter then most hawks, but more versatile. I've had my TH now for just about 4 years, and this is the first one that i've had long enough to decorate the handle and modify the head. Never thought I'd have a purdy hawk before, but i've also never had one I've liked so much! Even stopped throwing it! Now it resides on my belt or pack until duty calls.

IA, I think you have the best videos and reviews I've seen yet! Thanks for this one especially, I loved it!

Just saw this on Youtube - can't even remember what I was looking for, but you made me want one of these! The mod community isn't helping either. At least this won't break the bank like most of the stuff on my want list lately.
