The Walking Dead

After last seasons waste of my time I passed on watching the new episode. Sounds like I made a good decision. Here's the deal...they look at viewership numbers and then send out press releases of the success. Better Call...is said to have crushed numbers for viewership of a premier. I didn't bite on that one either. Now, the question is do we keep the ratings high hoping they redeem themselves in the next / following episodes? I'm still not sold yet. If viewership drops only then will they take notice that TWD is a dud lately.

I learned real quick to not get too excited about TWD and this episode was just rediculous to me. Not only was it too drawn out but 75% of that hour long episode seemed to be commercials.

Yeah, it amazes me how many commercials they can fit into one episode. Feels like a 20 minute show after it's all said and done. :thumb down: :(

I wanted Tyrese to make it so they could permanently attach his hammer where his hand used to be. To he honest though I really didnt care about yis character. Bit too sensatove for me.

Way to many commercials.

As far as I am concerned the episodes without Daryl all seem to be terrible. I like the redneck zombie killing machine that they have with him.

I totally agree. Way too many commercials, and the episodes without Daryl are not as interesting as the ones in which he appears. He is, without a doubt, my favorite character. If the writers ever kill him, I will stop watching the show!

The slow motion exploding heads and some of the other action scenes were pretty cool, but it also seemed like there were more commercials than in previous episodes. I was just bummed out that another of the key characters was killed one episode after Beth! Are they going to "kill a character a week" until only Rick, Carl and Judith are left and then start with a whole new cast? As far as I'm concerned, they could kill Eugene and that would have been no big loss. But I had really grown to like Tyreese and was surprised when they killed him so soon after killing Beth.

There were definitely more commercials than usual but I just fast forward through them so no problems here. :)
Tyreese is gone BUT we are going to have Morgan back!

I agree with Lexi. I thought it was an interesting approach - we were in Tyreese's head while he was dying; and it aided in the character development, not just of him but of the general attitude that all the other characters were discussing in bits and pieces during the show. Think about it: they just went through a hellish, what....couple of months since the prison fell? They just lost a beloved character, Beth....they needed an opportunity for some introspection, to each figure out how it affected them. And you can't say it didn't have action or gore....loved the slow motion head explosion while they were carrying him out of the gate at the end!

They're going for a multi-dimensional show. I don't mind some of the slower parts, as long as they add to the story.

We are completely on the same page! I thought it was neat being able to see all of his final thoughts and what he was thinking as he was dying.

I still think a great twist would be kill them all off and go to another part of the country, like the desert of AZ or something and have a new perspective of what the Apocalypse would be like .

Or go to Australia and Rob Stanley can be Aussie Rick w/ the MOAB :)

I didn't think he was going to die as long as they seem to drag it out. 2 big characters in 2 episodes....what next?

I'm not a fan of the "Everybody Hates Chris" kid. I am not a Tyreese fan either. He was a bad ass when he first entered...then he got soft and compassionate.

It was cool the way they showed the governor and flashes of Beth, but it took way to long. Any other character would have turned by then.

How is Morgan getting to DC? It's a long walk from Georgia!

Me, too! I loved how, in the end, he didn't give up. He knew who he was, and he fought. He died because there was just too much damage; and that is a part of life in that world. But he didn't give up, even though that Terminus guy kept doing the "I told you so"; and I think that was a lot of the internal conflict with Tyreese....remember when he just sat in the car when the four of them were going after medicine (back during the prison sickness), and the car got stuck and they were under attack by the zombies and had to make a run for it? Remember when he was trying to figure out if he should participate in the Governor's attack on the prison? He had internal conflict, I think...should I fight or just accept? A gentle soul, in a vicious world.... real conflict. Well, I think he resolved that in this last show, regardless of the ultimate outcome of his being bitten.

The end, where the girls said, "it's better".....I don't think it was better that he died. I think it was better that the battle was over. Dying or not, he finally would be able to be at peace, and not in turmoil because he didn't know his place in the new order of the Apocalyptic world.

It was affirming, even though it was sad. I liked Tyreese; and I'm glad that he was able to declare that he "knew who he was"; because he definitely struggled the whole show. Real people go through struggles like that all the time....I don't mind when shows stick that into their storylines; because it adds dimension to the characters.

I will miss him.....

Seems like they are already working on a spin-off set concurrently to this one but located in LA IIRC..

Had the house all to myself so I killed a few beers and re watched the last episode. Got to really pay attention to what was going on. Way better than I originally thought and I picked up on something I hadn't noticed the firs5 time. If any of you guys are into the comics, don't blow the story line for me, but I noticed that one of the walls in Noahs neighborhood was painted with the words "Wolves not fear". Then I noticed that when Rick slammed into the back of that truck and the dismembered walkers came out all over the hood of the suburban, they all had a W carved in their foreheads.

I liked Beth and Tyrese...this keeps up it will be Daryl and Rick hanging out with Carl and Lori's ghost! :grumpy:

I am curious about the W carved heads as well. Of course if it is like last season it will be a few weeks before we know because there will be an episode all about Carol and then one where Carl finds more pudding.

I hope not! I've actually grown to like Carol. She has developed from an abused wife to a real badass zombie killer able to make it on her own. If they do any more episodes focusing on her, she will be the next to die! They had an episode with Beth and Daryl where they were drinking the moonshine and Daryl was talking about his past, then a couple more about Beth in the hospital, then they killed her! They had a couple of episodes featuring Carol and Tyreese with the two girls and the baby, and when Carol saved the "prisoners" at Terminus, then they killed Tyreese. So anymore "featuring" of Carol and she's history!

Now if they "offed" Carl, I wouldn't mind a bit. But I highly doubt that is going to happen.

Any reason why those zombie torsos were cut up and stashed in that truck?
(Which Rick bumped and released all of them whilst saving Tyrese)

We shall find out in a month. After Lori's ghost eats pudding with Carol.

Seriously though. Its foreshadowing of some sort. I'm looking forward to when things pick up again. I was the most sad that since the writers were convinced that he must die, they didn't let Tyrese go out on his shield. They should a let the dude die in a pile of crushed skulls that was once a herd.

Instead he gets surprised by a ten year old turned zombie. Dumb.

The artsy fartsy zombie show needs to go buh bye.

I watched the episode again last night and still thought it was good, even better the second time actually! RIP Tyreese!

Anybody else heard the radio news?
Something cryptic about Republic and rebels?
Did I miss something in previous episodes or is that a hint of something to come?

His real final thoughts would have been more like Ow, ow, ouch, ....sh_t...ow,ow,OW!!!...darn... ;)
