The "Whatever" Thread

Going to Hanna`s baseball game at 9, Connie is working until 9 (started at 2 this morning, we`ve been up since 1), so she will meet us there. It`s only 2 miles from where she works.

I hope it cools off by then I hear it is very hot by you. (I'm on the left coast this weekend)

Pretty warm down here too. I volunteered for some OT at work, which involved burning, grinding, and welding. I bet I drank a gallon and a half of water at work. You know it is hot when you walk outside into 95 degree weather and it feels kind of nice.

Just makes the beer taste better.:D

It was a balmy 65 degrees with showers today - perfect weather for a fair!

My youngest (going on 6) said he was ready for the funhouse mirror maze...many, many head bonks later the operator helped guide him through. I had cramps in my side from laughing so hard, am I a bad parent? I did clean his glasses before letting him go in?

Sound like a good parent to me, sounds like he had fun. BTW - nice score on the early Kephart in the exchange, that's an old one!

Thank you, and thank you! Both of us parents felt bad, but it was just too funny. And I could not pass up that Kephart, you know how I love these things!

Hehe, those mirror mazes are crazy.

They have to learn somehow, right?

They sure are, and his head didn't suffer too much, nor fortunately did his pride - he says he'll do it again next year if or his brother or I go with him. I'll let his brother go, those places freak me out, ha ha.

Does anybody have experience with the Ruger Mini 14 Ranch Model (5855)?

I'm considering the purchase and looking for feedback. Thanks!

Jeff

Admittedly, I'm a fan of Ruger guns, but I like the Mini-14 Ranch. The one I had (sold to fund another gun purchase) was fantastic. It was as reliable and tough as a hammer. And accurate enough for my purpose. I never did "scope it", but I was never disappointed at the bench or range. I just kept my expectations realistic. It's not as mechanically accurate as an AR nor is it as "cool", but a Mini-14 is also not as scary looking to the unenlightened. And since I'm not shy about spending other peoples' money, I vote Buy It.

Here's my newest. CZ Scorpion Evo3 Carbine I picked up this week. 1st gun I've ever bought that didn't fill a specific (real or perceived) need/role. I just wanted one.

Hmm, new guns.I've bought a few lately thanks to a signing bonus we received for ratifying a new contract at work.

I now have a Kimber Stainless II Target in 10mm (used), A S&W M&P 9 (new), (yes Andy, I bought a S&W!) and just for fun a Bersa Thunder 22 (used).

I'll get pics when I feel better.

I've been suffering from numb hands, feet and mouth the past week and just went to the doc yesterday and am waiting for test results to hopefully tell what is wrong and how to fix it.
I did find out I have a bundle branch blockage in my heart and premature heart beats.(gotta see a cardiologist about it)
Thanks to the numb feet I can't walk normally because my feet feel like they are asleep.
Imagine how it feels when one foot goes to sleep and you walk on it and divide by two.
Very unstable to say the least.(I can still walk though, just slowly.)
Very frustrating too!

I hope to get an "assault" rifle next, but can't decide on an AK or AR platform.(Get it before Hillary gets in office.:barf:)
Collective thoughts on opinions/experiences would be appreciated.

I used an M16 in the Marines and grew to hate it (not due to performance, just a mental thing) and would like a bigger caliber hence thinking about an AK variant.
I've got a bit of prejudice towards the AK being a former GI, but they say they are the ultimate in reliability and they do chamber the 7.62 thirty cal.
Again, opinions/tips/experiences would be appreciated on the two.:)

I forgot to mention the M13 and Woodcraft I received from John last week.
The M13 with gorgeous Ironwood will be going up for auction and the Woodcraft with Walnut is just a great knife and a good mate for my Texan 336.

I'll get pics up when I can.

Thanks again to all that voted for the M13 and thanks to John for two great knives.

Hope the doctors get your issues under control soon!
I've been taking a break from here for a few days, just not been in the mood to post. Things need to change soon.

Going to Hanna's last ball game this morning. To be honest, we never thought she would like it, but she does, so much in fact that she is enrolled in a Fall league.
