The "Whatever" Thread

I’m probably not going to offer stainless anymore. I have a very small amount left, and can’t justify the cost of buying more when it just sits on my shelf. I’ve had it for 3 or 4 years. If I would have known it would not be popular I never would have bought my furnace.
how good of edge does your stainless keep amd how hard to sharpen. ive never had good luck with stainless but they were also cheap beaters

What size knife do you have material for?

It’s a balmy 8 degrees in the shop, and I’m heat treating. I won’t be working tomorrow, too cold to precision grind bevels, and Wednesday is Connie’s one day off this week so I’ll be spending time with her. I will be working this weekend.

it was -4 this morning when the alarm went off with a -20 WC and is up to +8 now with a -7 WC.
On Friday I let the boss know that if it was this cold I'd only be working 1/2 day because I didn't want to put the dogs out in that kind of cold for 10 hours.
forecast this week is a warmup at the end of the week: 25 and snow on Thursday, 40 Friday, 50 and rain Saturday...

We are supposed to have winter here all the way to spring.

As much time as I spend outdoors accompanied by my dog I had a "first" last weekend. We were hiking an old fire access road off of a gravel road not too many miles from town. About a half mile in the pup started squealing loud. I ran over expecting him to be stuck in a briar patch. My heart raced when I realized he was caught in a steel trap. After a minute or two of him biting me, my son crying, and my wife screaming I had him free. To say I was angry would be an understatement. When I got home I got online to check state regulations before calling anyone. Turns out the trap set was legal other than not having a tag identifying the owner. It's hard for me to understand how it can be legal to set a trap that close to an area that is easily accessible. The trap was less than 10 ft off of the old road. It's a location we frequently walk. The dog is okay but my wife is still furious. I've calmed down now and looking back I'm glad we didn't run into the guy on our way out or things may have gone different.

Bummer, fish - glad the pup was ok - hope you have a new trap now since it was not tagged.

No ID tag makes it illegal doesn't it?
I'd a took it and trashed it.

Do you have enough to make a stainless Rule #9?
If so, I'll order one.

Hit mid 20’s here, supposed to be 50 next week, then back into the 30’s next weekend.

Crazy weather this year. Good thing I found an old 4x4 worth buying this fall. I’ve needed it for the mud as much as for the snow this winter. The dirt roads are greasy and down right spongy sometimes when it warms up.

hit 42 today - and was breezy.
with the melting going on, that wind felt more uncomfortable than the 20 degree breezes we've been having.
supposed to be 52 and thunderstorms Saturday.

It may not be here yet, but it’s coming.:)

Yes it does. It would have been illegal to tamper with it. It may not still be there but I don't know anything about it:rolleyes:
Amateur hour for sure. All my lines are off roads and trails. And not all states require markings on each trap. I mark my line eye level with a tracker chop v in the tree. Probably some 20yo kids acting like they know what they are doing.
