Your stag 47 is a beauty, Charlie. I'm especially impressed by the consistency and symmetry of the thickness of the stag on both scales.Case #5347 Serpentine Whittler! Made using the #47 Stockman frame!!View attachment 2009166View attachment 2009169View attachment 2009171View attachment 2009174View attachment 2009176
Nice knife, Gary!! Looks like you've had it a while!!Your stag 47 is a beauty, Charlie. I'm especially impressed by the consistency and symmetry of the thickness of the stag on both scales.
Here's another 47 whittler in smooth bone that I acquired maybe 6 yrs ago and have stored away in its box.

I find shorter frames to be the most fatiguing. My favorite is the 62 pocket carver, best blades still kind of thin in the hand. The 35 cattle knife best to hold for me, not a purpose build blade but still very serviceable. Then the 38 English whittler is kind of the happy medium between the two.For those of you who actually whittle or carve, what is the best frame you have used?
The only time I tried it was with a GEC #33, and I found it fatiguingly small.
I'd love to make such "bad" pictures! I missed all of them! Not the best pic, but some nice whittlers for sure.
