The Wonderous Whittler

This is an absolutely gorgeous piece! I really have been wanting to try something in abalone lately.
Thank you! The picture does absolutely not do justice to it's real beauty. This is a wonderful gift! I wish you can find an equal beauty!

Can I get a few more details on the top knife in stag? That is absolutely stunning! It looks like Ken Erickson is the maker?
One day when Ken and I were on the phone talking about this and that, he was in a quandary about what he wanted to make next. He was looking for a challenge.

I sent him an image from a Remington catalog I had on hand and challenged him to make this Norfolk Whittler...that should satisfy his desire for something to sink his teeth into.

I forgot about the challenge I made until we hooked up at the Blade Show and he surprised me with it. He had no blueprints, no plans, no go-by...just figured out how to make the knife. To say I was stunned is to understate the facts. It had completely dropped off my radar.

Ken has been a good friend for many years, and this is one of those knives that are tokens of that special relationship.

Thank you for sharing an absolutely stunning knife, and even cooler story!

I'll limit myself to ten, well eleven, but no more!

The yellow celluloid Klaas will be kept seperate. The Boker carver’s whittler will get a slot in the roll. I have a bloodwood GEC English and birdseye maple Queen incoming. It's probable the red bone Hen & Rooster, olive wood Klaas and blue bone Buck Creek will be shown the exit.
