"The World of Art Knives" - Finishing touches....

Absolutely incredible stuff! Hard for me to imagine there are that many hours in the day for amazing work like those Tortugas to be crafted.

From the little I have seen, it's going to be an incredible book, thanks for giving us peeks, David.

The back cover is also different in this book.

It is much more exciting - giving some idea of what to expect by
displaying 8 of the 272 pages one will find between its covers,
and showing 18 of the 527 knives exhibited in the book.

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Every one of us gets better and better at something the more we do it, especially if we love the 'work'. I can sense the achievement in this volume, too.

Looking forward to a signed copy, too. :D Wonderful stuff!

Every time I see those knives on the back cover, I drool. I think this one is going to be a multiple book purchase!

WoW!
The back cover is quite eye-catching and gives good insight via the written word into "The World of Art Knives".

No doubt about it, Coop, this will be my best attempt at
creating a book about modern custom knives.... After all I did
have quite an exciting 7 years to practice... :)
Thanks!

David, very exciting my friend!! Look's great so far:thumbup: BTW, "I KNOW", "I KNOW"!!!

With 28 pages displaying a drop-in-the-sea of your amazing custom
knife collection I really do hope that you will like it... And, okay, I know... :)

I have a feeling, Bob, that if I post a picture of the back flap of the book's
jacket your drooling will really be justified, eh?

Thanks everyone!

All the best,
David Darom (ggg)

I know exactly what you mean! But in all seriousness, the drool factor has everything to do with the entire contents of the book. I look forward to spending many hours perusing it's contents, not just the dust jacket!

Best,

Bob

Here is the full jacket of the book. I chose the knife for the rear
flap of the jacket not only for being an amazing piece but also
because it represents a world-class engraver/knifemaker, a
world class knifemaker and one of the most enthusiastic collectors
of the arts that I have met recently.... Specially for Bob Betzner...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

WOW, David, I need to go out for lunch more often. I had no idea this would be here for viewing, upon my return. I didn't realize this would be available to view, even remotely soon.

Thanks so much for your work - were it not for you, we would never see the best of the best!

Best regards,

Bob

A new feature that really enhances the visual aspect of my
new book and brings the readers closer to the people behind
this art is the abundance of pictures of the knifemakers, their
workshops and beautiful and intimate portraits of the collectors.

Altogether 97 such pictures giving added value to the display
of over 520 amazing modern custom knives...

Here are a few examples of knifemaker working portraits
and the opening pages of Phil Lobred's collection display.

All the best,
David Darom (ddd0

Very nice David......keep those teasers coming. I for sure can't get enough of them:cool::thumbup:

Marcel

This is purely off thread - but the time will come (it may already have) when I'll be kicking myself for not keeping the Steinau I drew at AKI. Love that title, "Big Knife with Hook".

When I see these teasers come out and then see some of the beauties that are around, Jurgen Steinau pieces being a good example, I simply marvel at the "The World of Art Knives".

Hello Marcel and Bob, although I suppose it is good morning to one
and good night to the other THANKS to both of you!

And by the way, two things:
both of Jurgen Steinau's "Knives With A Hook" are in the book,
and yes Bob, you sure did a BIG mistake letting one go...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)
