I am often asked about how the illustrations in my Art-Knife books
are so constant in design and display, even though the knives themselves
were photographed by quite a few different photographers....

Well, living in Israel, thousands of miles from where everything is happening,
I depend on professional photographers around the world for pictures of
the individual knives I plan on to display in my books.

Here you can see (on the right) 3 very hi-res pictures of knives
shot by Eric Eggly (PointSeven) some years ago.
From these three files (and with full permission of the
photographer), I created the final page seen on the left...
5 hours of Photoshop Joy!

Bear in mind that my books have around 272 pages..... Giving me
thousands of hours of exciting digital fun with knives while playing with
the amazing original photographs of professional photographers from
around the world, mostly using the original pictures shot by three:
Jim Cooper (USA), Eric Eggly (USA) and Francesco Pachi (Italy)

Hello Wim, I think that the book is worth much more... only about 400 will be on sale
(making it a very expensive printing production) and the book is over 2kg in weight,
so you should decide soon.... :)

All the best,

For years, the language barrier with Eastern Europe and Russian knifemakers prevented me
from displaying their amazing knife art in my books. Once I got through, I was exposed to
some of the most amazing Knife-Art created in recent years.

This is my 3rd book where I am presenting the world with an in-depth look at this art.
Here as a TEASER, are 2 pages from a section in my new book dedicated to one of these Masters,
in this case the Knife Art of Eugeny Sorokin, Russia.

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Amazing book. Getting very hard resisting your new book. Bought 4 of your books already. Custom Folding Knives, Custom Fixed Blade knives, The great Collection, Custom Knifemaking.
But none of the four "The World of Art Knives" issues bought yet. The knives in 4 volumes are all different from the 4 books I bought right?

Right!! But so are the Knives and Knife Related subjects in
"The World of Art Knives" Vol.I, Vol. II and Vol. III....

The whole design concept in my latest series is different too!!

A big thank you goes to David Darom
You managed it again. What a wonderful book with really superb pictures. Absolutely a pleasure to hold it in your own hands and looking at the pictures with speechless amazement-. It will take probably weeksnto see and notice all the details in it. I am very happy that I have received it. Since you have Nordic knives as a distributor the nightmare Missy Beyer is forgotten.( Nordic Knives = execellent service, execellent shipping and tracking) I can really recommend this book if you are going for some extraordinary knives. Some of them are making me speechless.
My only criticism- knife fighting should not be displayed in a art book. In many european countries is this a absolutely no go and can cause a seizure of the customs officials.
But beside that - the best book you ever made
Many thanks
John

Thank you highland dirk!! I am glad you liked the book!
I myself consider it to be one of my best ever!

I am sorry that you misunderstood the concept of Bram's non lethal defense "Knife" concept.

Bram Frank's section is not about fighting, it is the opposite, it is a NON LETHAL
martial art based on NON LETHAL Folding KNIFE-LIKE Tools that he created
and that serves only for defense!!

Not being sharp it is also considered a legal carry tool!

Check it out carefully...

It is a wonderful concept, a great non lethal knife-related art, and I am proud to display it in my
book on modern custom knives in the section I named:CUSTOM KNIFEMAKING and RELATED ARTS...

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Hello everyone,

As you probably realized by now, I have in me a great passion
to document today's modern Knife Art and the stories of the people
behind it for generations to enjoy, and I do it at the highest visual
quality possible as this art does deserve…

After creating what is probably my best book, "The World of Art Knives" Vol. IV,
making it 12 deluxe volumes on Modern Custom Knives,
it would be interesting to hear from YOU what path to take,
if at all, for at least one or two more volumes....

Thanks and all the best,
David Darom (ddd)

"The World of Art Knives" Vol. III & Vol. IV
Are still available from NORDICKNIVES.com

How about my dedicating one stand alone volume just to display
the many variations of The Modern Tactical Knife?
Covering every aspect of this fascinating subject?

Attached is a page from a section on Dress Tactical folders from my recent book,
"The World of Art Knives" Vol. IV which is still available from NORDICKNIVES.com

of JURGEN STEINAU creating one of his world class "Sharp Objects":

Among the detailed Work-In-Progress processes of some of the major knifemakers living today
displayed in the book, I have the very detailed process of Johan Gustafsson (Sweden) forging
his Color Damascus steel and ending up with two completely different patters and two amazing folders.

Here are the 2 first pages from this exciting section...
