Yea...not sure about it being a pid membership only site. People need to come in here, look around for a bit, and then decide if the benefits of being a paid member. Plus...I know PLENTY of paid members who would be considered jack offs....

I don't think making it a paid membership site would help. I think some people are serious, some aren't. I'm just a regular registered member but I've always done things properly. Never had problems with anyone and never caused any either. A "I'll take it" needs to be followed by some sort of communication between the 2 parties or else..... move on to the next one.

Maybe he should consider a name change from thedoodabides to thedoodjustbids. It sucks that a few irresponsible people can muck it up for the many that play by the rules.

I see you left negative feedback on thedoodabides for not paying. In the past it was decided I believe, feedback should be left only when a deal is completed. That is something actually changed hands and a party was satisfied, or dissatisfied

Boy, that's a tough one. On one end, a person that says "I'll take it" effectively removed the item for sale. A full-time knifemaker has bills to pay and mouths to feed. I would think this type of aggravation, time lost, and diminished cash flow should warrant negative feedback. Feedback is all about the transaction.

I'm not going by what I think, I'm going by what the mods here in the exchange have said in the past. No transaction = no feedback.

Gotta agree with Jill on this one.Although it sucks that he messed up your sales thread, there was no money exchanged and therefore no deal happened.Thats what The GB&U is for.Spreading the word about incidents like this.Feedback is for deals that went south( after money or knives changed hands)

Not trying to downplay your predicament bro, it is very un-cool to do what he did.

Well guys and gals this is how I see it. When I do business with someone on this forum or any of the other forums, The first thing I do before I say I'll Take It and send money to a stranger is I go & look at there feed-back. If they have a negative feed-back I won't purchase from them. The reason I left negative feed-back is not to help me because I already got "Screwed" It's to help you guy's & gals so this guy doesn't do it to you. Well maybe I did break the rules but you all will benefit from it in the long run. Take a look at my 66 POSITIVE FEED-BACKS and 9 years membership and you will see what kind of person I am. {YOUR WORD IS YOUR BOND}

I don't call the shots here and this sort of thing has came up before. The exchange mods said if nothing is exchanged, there should be no feedback left. Sure it sucks that people post they will take a knife and weasel out of it, but I think that BladeForums doesn't want feedback left on deals that were almost. Plus to say he cost you a sale? You still have the knife you can still sell it.

I'm not sure I understand. How did you get screwed if you still have the knife? Can't you just go ahead and sell it?

For all you know he could of had a family emergency, car accident, etc...Believe it or not knives aren't the most important thing in the world.

The reason I got screwed out of a sale is because there was a second buyer that wanted it. I told that person that I was waiting for the first buyer to pay and I had to be fair and give him a couple of days. Buy Wednesday I new he was a dead beat so I contacted the second buyer and he had already gone on ebay and purchased one for more money. If I hadn't of been a nice guy and gave him a couple days to pay my knife would have been sold to the second guy. And there would be a happy ending to this story.

Next time if they don't pay right away, then don't hold it. Tell them you have to sell it to the first person, that sends you the funds. Better yet state that in the sale thread. Couldn't be much fairer than that.

Thank-You Jill

+1 nothing was lost except a bit of time. It's not like the knife can never be sold because it was tinged by a newb with a hyper active trigger finger and a thin wallet.
