After the Arkansas Show I checked my luggage in at the United Express. I was way too early but had nothing better to do than to walk around the airport and wait for my flight. TSA had over 3 hours to inspect my bag. When I reached Home I opened it to find my slipjoint wasnt there. Here is a shot of it so please keep your eyes open on the market for it. If somebody is good at Craigs list for Little Rock area please monitor that oK? Its valued at $400 and I'm offering a $100 reward for its return.

I've contacted the TSA and filed a report also turned in a claim to United Express. I'm going to contact the Little Rock PD for a report just in case a crack user gets arrested with it in his pocket.

Here is what it looks like:
It is numbered 041 on the right side of the ricasso. Anyway It was stored in a small black zippered pouch.

Seriously?!? I HATE thieves so much...:( I'll make a couple of calls to some friends in the Little Rock area and have them keep an eye out for it Bruce. If I had known that knife was heading back home with you, I would have bought that puppy and carried it home safely in my pocket! Sorry for your loss dude. That sucks beyond belief!

Michael, Yes see if your friends can find it. I would have given it to you if I knew this was going to happen.

I would also suggest monitoring eBay. I sometimes see auctions of "legitimate" TSA confiscations. It's possible that they may want to avoid local markets and get the highest price they can.
Good luck

That really sucks, Bruce. I have no patience with a thief. I hope that they catch the son of a @#$%^.

I'll do my best Bruce, you can count on that. I really hope it's not too out of line to say, given the $#!^ circumstances, but IF you decide to make another one like it, let me know and I'll be happy to take it off you hands! I'll have my Ninjas see what they can sniff out, my friend...good luck! The TSA are just about the most corrupt, thieving bunch of thugs that good people have no choice but to deal with. I'm always TERRIFIED to fly with my knives!

That's a terrible shame. I hate to hear of this kind of crap. I will search Craig's List daily. I looked at that knife at the show with envy and it bothers me to think of the thug stealing your hard work.

Chris

That sucks Bruce! Hope it turns up.

Need to add, with Mike Jr on the case, you really might get it back. :)

That's terrible Bruce. That was a slick knife for sure. I hope they find em and hang em by their toes! I've no patience for those thieves. I believe Dateline did an investigative report on TSA agents. They left a couple ipads and some money in their luggage. 2 of the 5 ipads and some of the money was stolen. It's clear that its a corrupt system. Who polices the police?

Every Time I put a knife in a bag and check it I get a not in my gut. this will not help that. I hope you get it back Bruce I might start sending them back fed ex the same way I get them there.

Thanks guys for feeling my pain. I sent them Fed Ex to the show. Do they have a Fed Ex table at the Hotel?

Wont help here, but for the future. When I started flying with knives 11-12 years ago I got insurance from collect insure .com Not only are my knives covered everywhere, but they are also cover in the mail. The amount I save from not having to buy shipping insurance more than covers the yearly cost.

Sorry to hear that. I've checked knives at Tampa airport before and they always leave a note in my bag that they've searched it. Hope you get it back.

That stinks Bruce!

I know that this wont help now, but may in the future -- I got this method from Ed Caffrey for when flying with knives. If you put a firearm in the case with your knives, you have to put your locks on the case (not TSA locks). TSA cannot open your case with out you being present and if anything happens to the case, it becomes a bigger problem that a TSA problem -- like ATF or FBI. Because of this, the probability of the TSA folks messing with your stuff is less likely.

I fly every year to Atlanta and have never had a problem and I know many people who do the same.

The gun that I put in the case is a little 30 cal black powder single shot pistol that is about 3 inches long. You do need to make sure you do not fly anywhere where there are state laws that prevent you from doing this like maybe New York.

I always pack my knives in the toes of my extra pair of shoes - then stuff some dirty socks in there. Nobody wants to deal with that. Haven't lost one in almost 30 years.

Seriously, Bruce - that is a beautiful knife. Sorry for your loss.

TSA had over 3 hours to inspect my bag.

I think we might have identified the problem.

I was very sorry to hear about this. Sorry, but not surprised. I have taken to sending knives to my hotel by overnight delivery if I am going to travel with them.

Hope you are able to recover it.
