There can be only one

I like Spydercos a lot, but for this question I have to say my Camillus EDC in 154CM. Great slicer, reliable lock, and solidly constructed. I didn't choose a fixed blade because I can take the 3" folder almost anywhere. I don't own any custom or even high-end production blades, so everything that I have is pretty simple and utilitarian.

Of what I currently own:

Benchmade 800 AFCK partially serrated.

What I would have if I could?:

Benchmade 806 Axis AFCK plain edge.

Why? It just 'feels right' in my hand...

out of the knives i currently own.... Benchmade 942, partially serrated with the black teflon coating

if i could choose from any knife?
Benchmade 42, partially serrated

Thats easy. Id choose my Mel Pardue Custom folder, with the mammoth ivory handles, filed everything, and black pearl inlays on the spine and thumbstud. Silly, right? Yes, it surely is, and this just further proves the point i was making in another thread, that knives like this arent meant for use, rather to be viewed and admired. So, if i have to choose a knife to actually use every day, for any possible purpose, hmmmmmmmmmmmm, i think i need to buy myself a new knife!:) For now though, it would probably be one of my Sebenzas, probably the smaller one. The new black one piece Chris Reeve fixed blades seem like a good choice in the right blade config, theyre one solid piece of machined steel, cant beat that for strength. Ive been wanting an excuse to go buy one of those guys anyway, hey, thanks for starting the thread! :D

If it really has to be one knife and assuming you could keep what ever you choose - no one is going to take it away from you because of some local law, then I can't believe the number of you that would choose a folder over a fixed blade!

If it really had to be one knife for everything, and choosing only from what I own, I'd probably take my Livesay Air Assault! Next to that probably my Dozier K1 (though I'd rather the Guides knife if I had one cause its a little longer). If it had to be a folder I'd make it my large regular Sebenza, not because it is so comfortable to use (its not that bad IMHO), but because it could take anything that gets thrown at it.

It would be my Pronghorn of course. I can do just about anything I need to do with this knife short of cutting down trees.

Only one is a very hard choice. For me it would be either my DeVilliers Exectac Spearpoint or my Obenauf Model 2. Both are great lower priced customs that are wonderful users. They are both small enough to be carried through many jurisdictions but stout enough to take on many tasks. They look good too.

A small fixed blade. Less to go wrong even though I like folders and have more folders than fixed blades. Something like the Blackwood Medium Tac/Utility or the Snody Explorer.

If I had to pick from what I own right now, it would have to be my MT LCC D/A. Very stout, beautiful, and usable, plus the D/A function is way cool. It presently gets more carry than any other knife I own. If I could pick any other knife, it would have to be either a Darrell Ralph, Crawford, Carson, or Elishewitz custom.

I'm suprised nobody has mentioned the Spyderco Fred Perrin. Remember, its got to do it all. I'm saying this without actually having handled one but I do have both Morans which I love and I love the Perrin design.

For me I would buy A BOWIE knife!!! This is of course the day[i/] after the lawmakers understand what the 2nd ammendent is about.

I carry folders only becauses fixed are not legal for carry:(

Hmmm...this reminds me of the questions we used to ask as little children. "What would you do with a million dollars?" or "What would you want if you were stuck on a desert island?" I'm sure the answere would be the same as these posts. :D

Any way I guess we are all still kids at heart, or something like that. For me the question is too hard, I couldn't deside, fate would have to.
