There Can Only Be One

One little picture... so much hoopla... :D
pokesalad, you searched in vain. The originals are in a subforum whose name shall not be disclosed. Paying members only. Sorry dude.

haha no worries. I actually had a better time with my ax handles than I would have with the pic. Seems to be that way more and more the older I get. Hell the only reason I really wanted to see it was because I couldn't. lol

I sanded an axe handle once, got caught by my wife, and she told me to quit doing that, I'd go blind.

I said, "Honey, I'm over here."

:D

My wife usually leaves me alone when I sand the ax handle now. Last time she came in on me she ended up with Teac oil on her face and shirt. Boy was she pissed.

You're supposed to get them a towel when you do that. Manners and all.

I remember when I was 13 and I sanded my axe handle for the first time. Something... weird happened; I thought I'd broke the damn thing :D

That's pretty common, but it never gets old. Look at tradewater. He's an old man, but he's sanding axes all the time still.

He ran outta handle a while back, too, just went and got a framing hammer handle to replace it.

Damn.

I sanded my axe handle earlier this year and it's been fine. Mostly I've been working on the head. Really getting in there. I was going at it so had I didn't notice the mess I made.

If you get too aggressive on the head, you can take the edge off. Then you have to start all over.

You gotta wait a couple of days though, all that soreness will need to work itself out. Good to find a good lubricant so as not be so abrasive.

I use RemOil or CLP. Man, one whiff of either one, and I can't wait to get my hands on my axe handle.

I roll more organic. Linseed oil. Stuff really soaks in. Sometimes, I don't need to lube it, its almost saturated.

Go gold and all secrets shall be revealed. Never thought of those pics as a Bladeforums fundraiser but maybe, just maybe.

Don't forget to use baking soda afterward, stops the acid from working itself too far in.
