They are trying to ban pocket knives in Hawaii

It's also scary and dangerous. A small, innocent looking bill like that could sneak past a legislature without too much thought and debate. And past experience dictates that bad laws are really tough to get rid of once they're on the books.

I doubt they are going to pass a bill that bans any folding knife.
It's still reason for concern, but those kind of broad coverage bills aren't going to get enough support to become law, IMO.

Yep, it's here-people talked about what's happening in the uk would be over here soon, and here it is-this is depresssing

I believe Ken Onion resides in Hawaii.
What would he have to say about such stupidity?
This would put Hawaii a step ahea of England.

Step away from the keyboard,
and put down the crackpipe!

Didn't I "tell you so" a few weeks ago discussing the UK ban and a few of you told me "will never happen, Not here" and "don't post politics"?????

Well, I told you so. And THIS bill may not pass, but one like it will IN YOUR STATE, IN YOUR LIFETIME.

I don't believe they will ever ban folding pocket knives in West Virginia, Virginia, or Tennessee.

Read HR 45 if you want to get sick....

No kidding. The simple fact is, guns AND knives are going to get attacked within the next few yrs.

Oh sorry, I guess it's not a "fact", but sure seems like it & bad one at that.

Still can't have hi cap mags in Hawaii, they kept most of the assault weapon ban. They also tried to have government funded universal health care and fixed gas prices. They had to quit both. Taxes are stunning in that place, they call it the "paradise taxes".

The knife ban reminds me of a story I read a while back that gangs in France were using snakes and monkeys to rob people, as other weapons were banned.

I think I'd laugh my ass off if someone tried to rob me with a monkey. LOL!!

I'd probably give the guy some cash just for the entertainment.

Funny, in a smallish city nearby when a man in a bar was stabbed with a small fixed blade they passed and ordinance banning the carry of fixed blade knives.
So now all you can legally carry there is folders.
Seems whatever object somebody uses to harm another comes under fire these days.
I guess they think they can deal with human behavior by controlling objects.
Not the person responsible.
