Groovy!

The clip looks really interesting. I know Darrel has been talking out loud about a clip that disappears after the knife is out of the pocket, is that his work?

Joe

NOW, THAT'S A CLIP! Excellent idea, Mr. Bloch! I'm gonna have to get an Impulse just to check out the cool clip.

Magna is a sweet knife. The Impulse seems a little too trendy and overdone. But, that's just my opinion. Opinions are like butt holes ... everybody has one!

I like the Krait based Impulse...please tell me how SandvikR 12C27 stainless steel compares to ATS-34, BG-42, CPM440V or the steel that Darrel uses a lot of, CPM420V. I love CPM440V.

Looks excellent. I've been looking forward to cracking these open (crack kills, LOL), but... what have you done??? Did you hide the screws on the Impulse under Kraton? Very naughty! No biscuit!!!

-Drew

David, they both look excellent.

Are they going out to South Africa now as well?

Chief --

It doesn't compare, it's a notch below steels like ATS-34 when it comes to edge holding, and a couple below the likes of 420V. I've had some fairly mediocre experiences with 12C27, but have heard from a number of very reliable sources (including Darrel) that was because of some very bad heat treat going around. According to Darrel and a number of other makers, 12C27 is actually a good-performing steel (comparable to GIN-1, perhaps?) when heat treated well. If that's so, it'll be a good solid performer!

Proper heat treat is critical for 12C27. The Impulse blades will be cryogenically quenched to guaranty a good result. One of the best features of 12C27 is its super fine grain structure that lets you get a wicked sharp edge. Edge retention is not to the level of some of the super steels mentioned however it is a great improvement over 440A. More comparable to AUS-8A or 440-B. For a knife that retails in the $50 range you will find 12C27 offers a quality steel at a great value.

For the record, custom maker P.J. Thomas uses 12C27 extensively in his fixed blade knives and also swears by the performance of this steel.

Joe
The clip design was a colaboration between David and myself. David has had built in clips on other products in his line for a long time. We just designed this one with the fold over and burried in the handle. IT WORKS TOOOOOO.....Comes up out of the pocket very nice , grips good and feels like it is part of the handle. The design looks like part of the knife also..... NOT an add on...

Thanks

Take a look!!!

Very nice looking knives. Haven't purchased any Outdoor Edge products since my Whitetail skinner. It's a nice unit.

So, any special deals for us Canadians?

Who is your Distributor up here now? I see Wholesale Sports no longer lists your products in their latest catalogue.

Nicely done! It is a very difficult task to bring a knife to production. Collaborations even more so. Congratulations David, Darrel & Kit. Good luck with the adventure.

Outdoor Edge may be the new kids on the block with these two new tactical entries but you sure seem to be starting out right. I'm real interested in both. Can't wait to get them in my hands. If always been a fan/owner of Benchmades and Spyderco but if these knives are as good as they look coun't me in as a first time Outdoor Edge customer.

To Big 1:

Wholsale Sports carries our hunting knife line but not the new folders. We made an Impulse/Magna shipment last week to Archer Sales. Contact Jim Archer at 780-967-4049.
