I am in love with thick bladed folders. I already have the ZT 0551. It's super beefy blade made me fall in love with these thick stocky knives.

What other folders out there sport thick blades, in a platform roughly the size of the 551?

ZT 0200, 350, 30X all have a thick blade. BM 755 is a bit smaller. CRK umnumzaan has a thicker blade but not super thick. I switch off between the 301,551 and Zaan.

I think that a Buck CSAR-T and a Strider Buck 881SP would fit the bill.

Don't leave out the Spyderco Manix, or the Lionsteel SR-1 (possibly the stoutest of all mentioned so far).

Siggyboy is correct. The Superleaf has a 4mm thick VG-10 blade, not to mention an almost indestructible compression lock. Thickness of the Superleaf is almost the same as my Demko custom Lawman...Total knife size is very similiar to the ZT0551.

The ones mentioned definitely fit. Another that comes to mind is the Blade-Tech Rijbak. I also second the Buck/Strider 880/881. They both have stout/thick blades for their respective size.

Thanks for the suggestions! I already have a manix 2. The superleaf looks awesome though! I'll definitely check that one out at my local dealer.

Is the buck/strider 880 still in production?

The Kershaw Volt is pretty darn thick though the knife is discontinued. However it has an M390 blade and is a super nice and well made frame lock. Worth picking up if you find one.

The Para is quite thick - nearly 4mm, I think - and the SuperLeaf is

Unfortunately it is no longer in production, however they show up in the Buck sales forum every now and then.

Take a look at Dwaine Carrillo, Farid Customs, and Dervish knives.

what about your demko "lawman" custom? - that has some meat to it! (I'm super excited for mine...m390 and full .100 ti liners!! -- contour g10 (what color should I do??? - should I buy a slab of MOONGLOW for Demko to work with? - a glow in the dark DEMKO?) thoughts???

EXACTLY the one I was going to mention. Blade stock is .157", or 5/32" thick. I would love to find a second one myself as I do carry mine in rotation, and a new one in the "safe" would make it more of a user than it actually is.

I've always loved a thicker stock blade, up to a certain point though, as cutting ability comes into play with some of the thicker blades.:)

+1 on this. The thickness of the Volt's blade stock is something that you don't really expect/appreciate until you have it in hand. Same goes for the Kershaw Speedform, in fact. Its blade stock thickness is the same as the Volt's, although the grind starts thinning out a little earlier on the Speedform.

At the risk of stating the obvious, in addition to the ZT and Buck collaborations already mentioned, there's also Strider itself. The SNG would probably be the model that's closest in overall dimensions to the ZT 0551 (although it's more than 1 oz. lighter than the ZT).
