Thick blade folders.

I am going to put in a plug for the Kershaw JYD II. very nice knife with a nice, thick blade and wonderful ergos. now all we have to do is get Busse to make a folder.....

XM-18 is a beast!
Or the Kirby Lambert Fireball...Monster blade that is.

What you want is a Strider SMF... trust me.

I recently obtained a custom from Ray Laconico. This large folder has a 3/16ths inch thick blade. Very strong.

With a full flat grind it cuts very well.

I don't have any pictures yet , the knife is still in the mail but the Farid T5000 has .250" framelock slabs and the blades are either .250" thick 440-c or .3125" in cpm-15v depending on your choice. As soon as I receive it I will post some pictures.

I've only owned Striders from above and highly recommend them.

Mine are:

Strider SmF RW-1, SmF CC DP 3/4 ground.

Will Zermeno Azrael. His knives are very stout. Good custom at a great price
+1 on this. I recently picked up a couple of Will's custom flippers (an Azrael and a Saigo) and was very pleasantly surprised by how thick the blade stock was. I haven't measured or asked him exactly what it is, but it looks like 3/16" stock.

While not in the same class as a lot of the knives already mentioned, I recently picked up a KA BAR Large Dozier Lockback (about 25 bucks) and was surprised how thick the blade is on it. I didn't measure, but it's the thickest folder I own. The fit and finish isn't all that great, but it locks up nice and tight, it's sharp and I am really impressed with how useful the smaller versions of these knives are. The grinds look good, too.

i love the 0551...thickness, blade shape and handle shape/how the blade protrudes. Hinderer hit a home run with that design.
