I have a .320" Busse, and more than a few fixed blades that are .250". I really don't like 'em much thicker than .250".

My PML 3V chopper is .266" thick.

My thickest fixed blade is the Cold Steel Trailmaster (5/16" or .31"), 9.5 ". It is also my favorite knife. The weight, handle, blade design... and yes, you can whittle a small branch if you have to. I have done it many times as well as chop off branches. (photo, right side).
I plan to get a Bark River Bravo II in black micarta (7") to complement the two fixed blades shown below.

I have a HI Ganga Ram Special, 22 inch Khukuri, almost 3/4 of an inch at the spine, weighs in at 4 lbs. I'll try and put a mic on it...
Not much of a slicer, but sure is fun to chop!
