thickest heaviest folding knife

This is definitely over $50, but it is huge and is technically a folding knife. You might be able to fit it in your pocket (really deep cargo pants pockets). I speak of the Wenger Giant Swiss Army Knife. Length and width are pretty typical of a SAK (3.5" x 0.75"). What sets this apart, though, is its 8.75" thick body and 2 pound weight. Retail cost is around $900.

The Victorinox SwissChamp XAVT looks to be a bit smaller and cheaper (around $360). It might be easier to fit in your pocket. It's the only pocket folding knife I've seen that comes with a digital clock, altimeter, barometer, and pharmaceutical spatula.

One Spartan is all you need. Until you get bit by the Sebenza bug (so I've heard).

Nothing beats a Spartan in that price range. A Pocket Bushman is equally sturdy but has a thinner blade.
If money is no object, try and put an Extrema Ratio RAO in your pocket. :D

Check out the CRKT "The Natural". It's a monster of a knife at 10.4 oz and 9-1/4" long and can be had for roughly $50. The Cold steel Spartan is longer but lighter and around $50 too. If you are going for a truly monstrous folding blade the cold steel Espada is the way to go, especially if you are willing to shell out a couple more bucks.

I've got a ZT0200, but I carry this more - the 0200 is too big.
i think chopping on dry rotted wood proved nothing . except amazed at how tough that knife makes the wood seem

Damn the XL Espada is freaking huge, might get it sometime.
Opinel Giant too.
Thanks for the suggestions some monstorious knives.
I'll go with an Enlan el-01 for only ten bucks.

I like my Ontario Retribution 1 for this, though it is over the $ limit quoted. Blade is 4 5/8" long X .200" thick, liners that are .100" thick, and a weight of 10.5 ounces. Like it even better now that I thinned down the scales, and added a tip up deep carry pocket clip.

Spyderco Manix 2 Is One Of My Favorites.

Black Bear Intimidator. S30V steel, G10 scales, 13 7/8" OAL open, 8 1/2" closed. Look it up on Youtube, they cut 2x4's with it, they stand on it to test the lock and stop pin, pretty tough knife.

oh yea, it's 11+ ounces.

Look up the Smith & Wesson #CK46BT. Stupid big and heavy, but it's one tough folder for the money. If you want a knife yo can kill and/or lose and not care so much about the cost, check it out. (You'll have to add a clip, though, but they're cheap at suppliers like Jantz Knife Supply.)
