Thieves!!!

Gentlebeings, if you look for it you will see a warning has been issued. Just because one person makes a fool of himself with a grammar flame does not mean everyone else should do the same and try to derail the thread as much as possible.

First, I hope it's just clipped to one of the pants in your closet (you do hang your pants in a closet, don't you?) I didn't, but that's beside the point. But even if it is stolen, you could have lost much more. I had two of my apartment maintenance workers rip me off of three handguns. Both were fired, but that's cold comfort if the guns are gone. Anyway, you might want to invest in one of those small safes for $70 at Wal*Mart or sporting good stores. People steal for many reasons, but on a campus the thief is likely to try to sell it on a bulletin board somewhere or eBay. You might want to keep your eyes peeled on those.

Also, who has access to your box? Doesn't your dorm room have a lock? How would someone access the box? And if they did it once, what can you do to prevent it from happening again?

Good luck in finding it.

Oh, and just for a brief English observation. "English department" is correct unless it's used as an official name. Example: "The English Department is sponsoring a book club." But if it's a generic reference, it's okay as stated. "Does Cornell have an English department?" Only proper names are capitalized, except the generic word "President," and that only refers to the U.S. President.

My missing knives usually turn up in the bottom of the washing machine. I don't know why the knife knomes always put them there

Well it wouldn't be in my pants pocket. It's not a knife that I carry much since it's pretty big. I had put it in the box after taking a picture of it and left it there. I always only have 3 knives out: sm. point guard in my 1st aid kit, SAK tinker in my backpack, and my EDC (usually my SOG)

I have a locking filing cabinet I keep valuables in, just not for those couple of days.

My room is usually locked, but I have roommates that aren't as considerate. It's dorm policy we lock our rooms when no one is in and unlock our doors when people are in, but unfortunately those rules aren't adhered to like they should be. Plus I got a couple of roomies that are always asleep in the room, but unfortunately sleep like a rock and I don't think would hear someone going to my side of the room.

Oh well, I'm going to move on and eventually look to replace it, probably after I graduate. I'm just figuring out what my next purchase will be once the army remembers to pay me. And yes I will keep it locked. I have a special ring coming in a month or so, and once it does I'm buying a Walmart lock box. Instead of my flimsy but lockable filing cabinet.

Good luck. Losing that 21-14SF must be painful. I've always wanted one, but never found one at a good price. I'm thinking of buying a Cold Steel Recon 1, but I don't have any of their VG-1 plain edged Voyagers, so who knows? No one seems to know how much better the VG-1s are than the AUS8s.

Your school will allow you to have weapons in the dorm? That's the kinda thing that would have gotten a student kicked out at my college.

Here as long as you don't try to stab people with them I doubt anyone will care. What college did you go to Unbreakable?

Every single school I've ever been to considers knives as weapons with the exception of butter knives. And I get it, I know... knives are tools, I get it. But they're weapons too.

Big ol' WORD on all counts. Got my Centofante 4 confiscated my freshman year... been more careful since!

My school recognizes them as tools. There's a 4" blade length limit to keep it "reasonable". You can see almost every guy here with a pocket clip on their right side pocket. Most are junk, although an occasional few might have a decent buck or multi-tool on them. My former dorm sup works in the deans office and had a big collection of exotic style knives (read: fantasy). No one has a problem when someone whips a knife to open a box or letter.

I posted a big picture saying "if found return to ____" on the front of my door. Maybe I can guilt someone into anonymously returning it. Also, my roommate is bring a game camera to school with him after thanksgiving.

I had a treasured Buck stolen during college. It was a beater of a knife, but one my Grandfather had given me. I wish they had taken a much more expensive one and left that one.

Before you throw stones, Tanizaki, may I suggest that you examine yourself first.? It's "English Department" -, not "English department".

Why would "department" be capitalized? It is not a proper noun.
