Do you know of a higher quality thin folder around 3 inches? Hay, thanks for the help!

The Spyderco Chaparral Carbon Fiber is very thin. The Spyderco Caly3 is as slim as the Kershaw Leek and the same size, but is much stronger. The Spyderco Delica is in the same range.

Blade - 420HC
Handle - Titanium with carbon fiber scale.
Lock - Frame

Spyderco Delica 4, VG-10 steel, i have carried mine everyday for the past few months and it has exceeded my expectations! its so thin and light its not even funny.

Are you sure you want a 3" knife? That's pretty small. Nothing mentioned above meets that requirement.

My guess is you want a knife with a 3" blade, mainly due to legal restrictions. For example the Spyderco Delica is 4.25" closed with a 2.8" blade; the Chaparral is 3.6" closed for a 2.7" blade; and the Benchmade is 4.2" closed with a 3.25" blade. Blade size restiction is serious in some cases, so that extra 0.25" can be a problem.

In my opinion all those fancy clips and cut outs, and thumb studs, and other neat stuff just make it darned uncomfortable to actually USE. Don't get me wrong, I've carried knives by all of the manufacturers mentioned, and some were very good knives. But, that being said, I suggest you look at the Great Eastern Cutlery model 47, called the Viper. It's a very slim, smooth, lock back that comes with a lot of different scales (handles) to include micarta. It's also a very clean package and very usable. Plus it doesn't look "tacticool" so you won't freak out the folks at work. It comes with a full 3" blade, normally a Wharncliff but they have made similar patterns with spear and clip points.

Last, that Black Fox is not what I would call quality. 440 stainless can be almost anything, and the pivot is not well designed. It's too easy to get something between the blade and the lock, which would make it useless. Also, who needs a loop and a clip? That's redundant. It looks like a design by someone who never actually had to use a knife. and the price point shows it's not planned to be anything but a gas station throw away.

Here's a photo with one of my 47's next to a true 3" knife (an advertising give away from the 1950's).

Handle thickness:

Kershaw Leek: 0.35"
Spyderco Chaparral CF: 0.336"
Spyderco Chaparral Titanium Stealth: 0.294"

Spyderco Centofante 3, Spyderco Delica, Spyderco Chaparral, and the Kershaw Leek are all good choices
