Things to do with worn out belts.........

I use em like they are free. When one is worn enough that its not performing and its not a grit I can use for sharpening, I remove it from the grinder by cutting it off. That way, i dont packrat them and i put em straight in the trash.

The used ones live on the wall and behind the metal cutting bandsaw. They seem to multiply after I turn the shop lights off. Periodically, when they get in the way I cull the herd. No mercy, gust grab a bushel full or two and heave them out. Darn things are so expensive, I try to really wear them down before they finally have to go.

for non skid folding lawn chairs cut off those slippery plastic strips and reweave the old belts in :). i think it would also be cool to walpaper a shop slowly with them. and when you need a big flat sanding surface your all set to go:)

OK, After you wipe you ass what do you do with them? I like the non skid lawn chair idea.
Non skid toilet seat, thats something I could use.

Well... in a way they ARE free, and you are right here.
When they are too worn to do nice jobs, like shaping and finishing a blade, I keep them for the dirty ones. Grinding off metal from various scrap parts and odd pieces, removing rust, grinding lumps of wood to shape them for this or that function that requires shape but not finish, etc...
All works on which a new belt would be wasted, and that would spoil a nice, new belt.
So, I always keep some old belts for these "dirty jobs".
After all, they are dirty jobs, but some belt has to do them. ;)

Get several wooden paint stirs and some 3m spray adhesive. You will have more sanding sticks then you will know what to do with. You can also do it to popsicle sticks and let the little woman do her nails!!! She can't say you never gave her anything!!

CREATIVE! The ladies would love the different grits too to get that nice fine finish.
