Things you can never have too much of..

I always seem to bring more water carriers than I really need - those collapsible Platypus bladders. I've always been a bit compulsive about having enough water ever since I got heat exhaustion as a kid once on a long bike ride.

I also have accumulated all sorts of stuff sacks and ditty bags.

Encounters with clueless, cold and wet sheeple dressed and equipped with the most expensive gear.

It has happened twice to me. Both times I helped them to light a fire, and explaing that it's difficult to set fire to a wet and fresh (green) piece of solid wood with a cigarette lighter. Even with some paper they carried with them from home.

To me there is hardly anything I enjoy more than seeing "outdoorsy lifestyle posers" ("I LOOVE SPENDING TIME IN THE BEUUUTIFUL NAATURE") wet, cold and longing to get home. My dark side I guess.

More than that:
Compasses and maps.
Knives.
Paracord.
Good rugged gear.
