I purchased a knife from a guy on the busse exchange and when it came it was in a priority envelope with no knife just a sheath. The side of the envelope was tore a little bit I don't think there was ever a knife in it to begin with. How does one deal with this in the forums.

Hmmm, that sucks! Contact them first thing and see what they have to say.

Yea in the process but honestly who puts a knife in an envelope. Also the funny thing is the sheath was in there.

Like zmbhntr said, contact the buyer, then file a claim with whatever postal service was used.
This generally goes to Feedback section of the forum AFTER exhausting every other option..

True, I have never put a knife in an envelope and never will. Depending on how things go, there is a "good bad and ugly" feedback forum to create a thread in.

Ndocyk, as stated contact the seller ASAP-I am curious what size was it? An Envelope is very, very weak-Good luck

man...I hate hearing this stuff:( Id contact them first but try to figure if its even possible that a blade could have been pulled out of that tear in shipping..is the tear hole large enough? does it have the weight printed on the envelope?

I have seen a BG ASH-1 cut straight through the box it was en route in, the postal delivery man asked me if I knew what was coming in the box… cause he 'found' it in his bin that the box was in. He almost put his hand straight on the bare blade, would not be difficult at all for it to have been lost similarly FWIW. I always ship with great care to securing the blade with tightly wrapped layers of corrugated cardboard around the blade, I have not lost one yet for this reason.

1lb 6.3 oz it was a rodent 6 with sheath so I guess it could have been it there. R6 the sheath was a nice leather one.

do you hink the tear was big enough for the blade to fit through? R6 has the guards...seems like it would need to be a pretty good tear.

I'd wager that it was, I also wouldn't put it past the mailman figuring out what's in it by feel and claiming it for himself… couldn't have been hard to tell it was a medium fixed blade in there. Opening it without it looking obvious would be a piece of cake being a soft cardboard envelope.

If you used Paypal they might be able to help you get your funds back.
Doesn't always work, but in some cases it does. Contact seller first and let us know what happens; if he ripped you off then the entire forum should know about it so they don't get nailed later. Honestly, any seller who ships an object like that in an "envelope" deserves some of the blame in my opinion.

If I sell a knife, I always ship insured.

Check with the seller.

I believe USPS priority includes some token amount ($100) of insurance.

I can see how it would have fit through but all the edges were taped and he claims it was really wrapped up so I don't see how it could have made its way out on its ownView attachment 639521

He offered to refund the money if I return the sheath so I guess it worked out. Hopefully lesson learned, don't ship knive in envelopes.
