This dogleg jack in ivory bone was my birthday present last week. I've not carried anything else since I got it. The fit and finish is spectacular. The pics don't do justice to the ivory bone. It is gorgeous. And I love the way the curve of the knife makes it snuggle into my hand when she's open for business. At 3 1/2" she is large enough to take care of chores on the weekends, but still small enough to carry in nice clothes.

The blades were dull out of the box (Queen gets knocked for this a lot. If these blades were D2 I'd swear they'd come from Queen.) I fixed the flat sections, but I'm still working on the points. MAN those points came with obtuse angles. I like a sharp edge right up to the point, and that is not going to be the case on this one for a bit longer.

Points or not, I don't think anything else is going to make it into my pocket for quite a spell...

Thats a great looking knife Frank. Its ironic you posted the pics of that one, because I was just looking at some GEC's from various dealers, and that one really caught my eye.

I had the same thought as you. It looks like the shape would make it really nice in hand.

Just curious but, don't the GEC's usually come with a decent edge ? I know the reviews in general are great, and don't remember much criticism of the edge.

Almost forgot, happy belated Birthday

The blade seems to be eagerly leaning forward as to really wanting to cut something.

Nice Frank. I saw some GEC's that were to die for at the Pasadena knife show last Spring. I really did not have the money to spend, and the guy kept going down in price. It made it really difficult not to pick up 4 or 5 GECs that day. I still have no GEC knives, but that will not last.

I am at the point of not caring if a factory new knife comes to me sharp or not. My belt sander 2x42 is really making me happy putting edges on things. Especially having the leather belt strop to polish it off.

very nice jack knife!
the GEC steel sharpens pretty well, sometimes you need to work a bit more, sharpened 3 this week and they are all crezy sharp now

frank very good pics i'm ordering mon. we really need member photos to tell if a knife is attractive. i have a thing for smooth light bone.i like the fat bottom since it holds real well in my old hands. thanks--dennis

Glad to hear you're so happy with that knife, Frank.
The dogleg pattern is one of my absolute favorites. I have a few by various custom makers as well as the Case/Bose rendition and I love 'em all.

The dogleg jack really looks good in that ivory bone. Thanks for the pics and Happy Birthday Frank!!

Wow! That is one of the best looking combinations I've seen on the dogleg jack!

That's a sassy lookin' dogleg. I like the clip point addition versus a spear point.:thumbup:

That bone is really going to respond to being carried and used, outstanding colour on it:thumbup:

I'm just hoping they bring this one out with a Longpull Spear:D

That's a fine lookin' knife! Congratulations on a nice EDC!

I'm no expert on GEC's. I just noticed that on mine the point needed a lot of work. The flat section of the blade wasn't overly sharp, but a couple of runs on the DMT stones perked it up very quickly. The point still needs more attention.

Thanks for the wish. It was.

The shape of the clip was one of the things that attracted me to the knife. Nice and wide. Just the way I like it.

Hi,

Man, that's a beaut! I've really got to get one of these Jacks. The size is right where I like them.

How is the snap on yours? Typical GEC bear trap or have they lightened them a bit?

I have never been a huge dogleg fan but this one just looks right and so practical. That blade angle and handle shape look like they will work perfectly in your hand.

Your pics are also excellent. May I ask you if you have the time could you please post a pic with something to make it easier to judge the overall size. Something like a US Quarter would be perfect......Thanks:)

Steven

frank mine's on the way--thanks to your great pic. these in hand remind me of the great in hand feeling of the gec tooth.

Good choice, Frank; I like them also. Here is a size comparo. Undyed stag Northfield and Case Bose collab.
