Thinking about a Case Large Stockman

Ps. A variation on the 47 frame, the 047 was essentially the same knife with a Turkish Clip main blade (same style as your #69 in profile, but still a little wider); not sure if it is currently offered. OH

Thanks Old Hunter, I am just not connecting with the square bolsters but I won't take the knife back to the store as I bought local; so for now it will be a safe queen and maybe a trader later. With Ebay we could all add a thousand knives to our collections in one night but that lacks the fun of a "find". Overall I am a flea market buyer, I love finding old but useable knives with history; the exception is that I'm a big stockman fan so I may buy a few new ones and am looking at getting the Buck Chairman as well as a new Case.

OH, after having a 6318 after the 63032, I've grown to like the Turkish clip more than the regular clip. That 2 dot is nice. That's how a knife is made.

Thanks Steve and you are welcome Sir James. The finest stag handled knife I own is this Case 5318 (you may recognize it from Primble's fantastic GAW earlier this year). It is a perfectly sized Stockman and it has that wonderfully shaped Turkish Clip main blade that Case uses in this pattern. I need to take a picture with all my Case Stockman pattern knives lined up, however I need to acquire a 44 pattern first. OH

OH, that's a beauty for sure. This 3-9/16" Rough Rider model #441 in stag has the lowest lying blades I've ever seen on a stockman, courtesy of the Turkish clip,
and it still has a mark side sheepfoot nick. It really does make for a wonderful pocket carry.

Here is my 4 1/4" CV Case 6375 Large Stockman with amber jigged bone covers yesterday.

This is the first Case knife I've had with their Amber Jigged Bone. It is very attractive with crisp jigging and nice coloring. I can now see why so many in this forum like this particular bone choice. I think that this picture of the pile side cover of this knife shows off the bone and jigging nicely.

Not been buying slipjoints in a while
but
Pictures like this pushes this knife high on my want list

Mamba, I think you are right, lowest setting blades on a Stockman pattern I've seen pictured. They put some nice stag on that knife, especially for the price point. OH

^^^ Ed that's the knife that got me all fired-up about Amber bone and the 6375 - had to have one after seeing those pics! :)

Yes, I remember us talking about it at the time. It is hard to pass up one of these once you've seen one.

That's a nice one Jeff. You know, Rough Rider just keeps getting better and better. Thanks for the pics.

Good to see you around again Ed

I agree about that RR version, very convincing. As for the Big CASE, it's a must in any Stockman collection, big but not dead weight. Reasonable cost, decent item.

Thanks, Will

I think the current Case which is closest to your 4" Camillus #69 would be the Case 6347 pattern Stockman; it is built on a 3-7/8" Serpentine frame (1/8" shorter) with rounded bolsters - however the knife and blades are all wider than the old Camillus design. OH

I will offer a +1 for the 6347 Case. It is all the the things that OH stated above, and it is currently offered in both CV and SS. It has been one of my favorites for over 40 years. This is my '72 model that I purchased new in 1973

I wish they would widen the cv options for this pattern. I could only find ole yeller and stag rancher.

This may be the knife that finally gets me a yellow handled knife. Though I'm not sold yet.

Ron, beautiful old red bone handles on your Case Stockman - and "Pocketworn" the real way too! OH

OH - Thanks for the compliment :) You are exactly right on that "Pocketworn" statement. This is what 20+ years of daily carry will do! Happy New Year
