Since BubbaThud is creating floral oils for his knife handles, I figured I'd stay on theme and ask about purses.

First, I'm not interested in Prada gear, so that leaves out some of you.

I'm talking about Maxpedition Versipacks. Saw a number of these in and around the Busse table at Blade. For those of you who own one or more, is there a favorite model that stands out? Best place to buy?

they were priced right at Brigade quarters masters

I got two for $90

the big black and a medium tan.

prices cheap something about changing the zippers colors I think OP said

havent used but looking forward to pack em up.

Xaman, highly reccommended !

I think this maxi is the one KH is talking about, the Proteus. It is kinda purse looking, my gaughter and wife laugh about it.

Brigade had them at $40, the Monsoon and newer Pygmy II at $70:eek:
They had them reduced because they are going with matching zippers.

Had mine since last year and love it! I wore it as fanny pac at Blade, but usually tuck the straps in otherwise. Mine is OD but looks kinda Tanish in this flash pic.

I have a Jumbo Versipack. LOVE it... Can take and post some pics when I get back home this weekend (hotel has horrid bandwidth). Here in Orlando, among the geeks at the Microsoft conference, I am the only one with something other than the POS that MS hands out to the attendees.

Lots of looks, and lots of compliments on it. One MS presenter asked me where to get one, and a few others wanted one for hiking and camping expeditions. Can't go wrong with any of the models, all depends on how much Man-Stuff you want to walk around with... :)

Jumbo versipack, baby. Best one out there. Even Wifey likes to carry it. Comes with a "secret" pocket with a gun holster. Straps over the shoulder and across the body. Can be packed full of stuff.

If you want something smaller, LAPolicegear.com is selling the thermite for about 40$ or so.

Maxpedition makes great proudct, and twowolvesoutdoor carries them. Buy from Lupa and her hubby.

If you go with the fatboy, go ahead and get the jumbo. You will find something to fill the extra space with... trust me.

www.knifesite.com has them for about $50. As far as models go, the regular fatboy sits on your right side, while the 'S-type' rides south-paw.

They are heavy-duty, and it is a very discreet way to carry concealed if you choose to do so.

i've got a military messenger bag that i use for hiking/camping. i'm not sure what company made it, or the model name, but they usually have a decent range of them at army & navy stores. mine is fairly small, but holds a decent amount of gear, and is easy to get to without having to remove it from your back like a std pack(good for storing things you would typically use frequently). the best part is the price($14.00).

I've got a Jumbo but haven't been at peace with my fem-side to carry it. Maybe as a CCW fishing rig. Hmmmm.

When you are ready to buy check out http://www.twowolvesoutdoor.com/Leathermans wife recommended them to me at Blade evidently they are friends of theirs.I am looking to get one also for next year.

Thanks for the link Chiller2:thumbup:

I like this one.

I've always considered one, especially in the summertime, but the thought fagbag:o:D always kept me from buying. This one looks nice & useful though.

At age 62, I have come to care less and less about what strangers might think about me. Daniel Boone roamed all over frontier Kentucky carrying a "man purse". Good enough for him, good enough for me.

I have settled on Filson. I have a medium field bag that I use for college football games. Carrys binoc., rain suit, sun screen, water bottle, etc. nicely. I see men trying to carry loose in two hands a rain poncho, binocular, sweater, and stadium seat. Get a bag, people! Also use it as a dove hunting and Clays bag.

I carried a Filson Computer brief case at blade. It is a briefcase, or a handy carry-all for whatever you have, like
blade scores. It will hold two Sarsquatches, two CG HR's, two CG Jackhammers, and a Cultie with a lot of room to spare. I carried one of these bags as a briefcase for many years at work, until it developed an unpleasant odor. I returned it to Filson and they unhesitatingly replaced it with the new one I had at Blade. Filson has a Busse-like warranty policy.

They are not cheap but are worth what they cost.

Guyon,

jumbo versipack and the medium one

They had the Jumbo! Dang I got there to late:grumpy: That will be my next maxi. Just called the Brigade in ATL and they have marked them back up to full retail.

Well said Mike:D:thumbup:

Never had a Filson, they are legendary. And like you say expensive.

The great thing about San Francisco is that it is so darn cold I can usually wear a coat with enough pockets to carry everything I need.

But Guyon if you want a man-bag even the "hard use" kind there are guys here that carry them as part of their "hard guy look" ensembles. I see if I can snap a photo for you if I see good one.

The hubby, Ghostwolf, carried a Fatboy for a long time. Then he moved up to the Jumbo for a good while. Then he went back to his Fatboy. He said he was carrying way too much with the Jumbo and wanted to lighten the load. Some days he just goes with my old M-5. Depends on the where and what for the day. So, I guess men can have more than one purse too. After all, you lead changing lives as well.

Me, I used to carry the M-5 on a strap. Now I have the TacTile Large / Tactile Small combo on a strap. My phone holster and emergency flashlight clip onto the outside of the large on either side of the small. Its cool. I have a Proteus I use for my emergency/day hike bag. I have had it for years and I love it. You can slide a bottle holder onto the waist strap for carrying H2O or other exciting beverages. Very convenient.

Thanks for the reccomendation guys. Much appreciated.

Thanks to all those who suggested Two Wolves, they're a small family business like us. I'll spend more if I can support the little guy (or gal in this case ;) )

The wife and I have a Jumbo S type, Thermite, Remora (my favorite, getting the bigger one eventually) I attached a 10 x 4 bottle holder to it and it looks like it was made there, we also have the Rat Wallet and the Anemone (the wife likes those because they fit her phone) :D . The Knife Collectors Briefcase is getting my attention lately too. Its almost as bad an addiction as Busse I tell ya!!! :o
