Thinking About a Man Purse

Ive got a remora. You saw it at Blade. Its like a small backpack with one strap. I like it a lot.

Gunyon, I got the Fatboy and I love it. I had to buy the strap extension. But it is very nice. I got the ACU Digital Camo and I have a Meaner Street mounted in a ACU Digital Kydex sheath upside down. Sweet setup!

But Guyon if you want a man-bag even the "hard use" kind there are guys here that carry them as part of their "hard guy look" ensembles. I see if I can snap a photo for you if I see good one.

Tony, I've been to San Francisco, and I'll pass on the photos. I think one of these hard guy types served me breakfast last time I was there, but he looked suspiciously like a woman.

I love my Proteus. I've had it for four years now. I put a longer shoulder strap on it though, with the padded adapter thinggy from a Jumbo Versipack I used to have.

i've got a military messenger bag that i use for hiking/camping. i'm not sure what company made it, or the model name, but they usually have a decent range of them at army & navy stores. mine is fairly small, but holds a decent amount of gear, and is easy to get to without having to remove it from your back like a std pack(good for storing things you would typically use frequently). the best part is the price($14.00).

+1 for messenger bag. Jack bauer uses one so it's definitely not a man purse either! :p

County Comm BOB. Another one to think about...

I've got one of these too... Well built and non-tactical enough that the gun compartment doesn't have to be "hidden." The lumbar belt slips behind a panel and you can use the shoulder strap or briefcase-type handles.

i had a jumbo versipack. used it for about a week, then sold it.

couldnt get past the fact i was carrying a purse.

aside from that, its a great pur.... pack and has lots of pockets and space.

I really like the Kifaru Tailgunner 1 with the wide shoulder strap.

Maybe you just didn't have matching shoes. Could that have been the source of dissatisfaction?

Remora (my favorite, getting the bigger one eventually)

Please explain/elaborate?

A man purse huh? Alright! I'm going to need to collect everyone's man card on this thread. :p

Actually I want one too. I have also been looking at the Maxpeditions both for a man purse and for a good pack. I wish there were local dealers where I could go see the various models. But recommendations from fellow HOGS are good enough.

Good thread Guyon. :thumbup::thumbup:

If you really like good leatherwork you can check this:

This is a briefcase from Dave at www.saddlebackleather.com. Bar none the best bag I've even ever laid eyes on. Teachers do CRAZY things to their bags what with the books and papers we have to carry, and after 7 years of buying cheap bags and having to replace them within months, I decided to spend good money on a good back.

Dave's site used to say there was a 400 yr warranty on these things. Basically, it's like Busse...if it fails, they'll replace it...even if you're grandson is using it 20 years after you've died.

They just started making smaller "satchels" as well. Might want to look into one of those if you're not wanting to go tacticool. I know you're into leather, too.

Drop Dave a line. He's an outdoors guy and JUST might see the value in trading one of his bags for a great knife.;) Ya just gotta beat Stacey to it...:D

Ty...you DEFINITELY want to look into one of Dave's bags...I know you feel my pain on teacher bag-damage.

Wouldn't be surprised if Dwayne ends up with one of these too...at least one for the wife. :D:thumbup:

that is possible.

perhaps with the correct danners and a stetson, i could have made it work.

some guys can pull off the man purse. i am not one of them.

hey gat, thats a great looking briefcase. i just checked the site, and the prices seem reasonable for quality leather.

how much does yours weigh?

The prices are NOT bad considering the quality and aesthetics. As for weight, shoot, man, I have no idea. It hasn't been empty since I received it. If you ask how much it weighs while I use it every day, I'd say 200 pounds. I believe, though, that if you look around the sight, there are weight specs. Mine is the briefcase one size smaller than the largest he offers. I believe 16".

Great quality, and would look good with a suit, or a pair of jeans. (If that kinda thing matters to you. ;) )
