Thinking about a sodbuster.....

On the ones I have, the Micarta seems a little thinner than the Delrin. With Acrylic (nifebright) between the two.

Every single knifebrite I've seen is thinner than micarta. I haven't handled the delrin to say where it falls, but the acrylics were definitely thinner than micarta

I think I have them lined up by thickness: Case bone, AGR Rucarta, GEC acrylic, Queen delryn, GEC delryn, Case delryn.

That's awesome. Thank you, LastRodeo! Didn't mean to bog down the thread, glad there's some more photo content now!

I ended up giving my Sodbuster Jr. to my father in the hopes of getting him into whittling as a newly retired fellow. He's not one to carry a knife, but I think he enjoyed the gift any way. Not long after giving that soddie away I got the itch for another one. Damn this hobby! ;)

You're welcome. If your looking for a slim pocket knife, the Case bone can't be beat. Collector Knives has the Chestnut bone at a great price. For best "bang for your buck", I think the Queen in D2 is the winner.

I have to add my vote to the Chestnut Sodbuster Jr. in CV also. In fact when when partnered with the Swayback Jack in the same covers you have an unbeatable combo. Sorry for the bad pic, I'll have to take one with a real camera. :)

The only problem with the Queens is finding one! They are a little scarce on the ground in D2. That AG Russell looks plenty thin, better steel(in my opinion only-no comments please), and a warranty you can't beat. Moki's version is nice and pointy tho'. Boker has a couple iterations that lock as well, low priced, and carbon steel.

Edit: You are right!. With Delrin in between.

Nifebrite was .465
Delrins .520- .545
Micartas .555- .565

Do you know if the delrin GEC handles are any slimmer than the micarta?
I have a black delrin handled gec #71that has a very nice proportionately thin handle but I have an orange handled one that is thicker. I carry the black delrin alot, I can't say enough about how much I like this knife. I also have a gec #21 in black micarta that I carry back pocket and it also is not too thick. Here is the black delrin #71

Love them my late Great Uncle Kaiser wore a full sized Case sodbuster down to a ice pick. Wish I had it.
