Thinking about an EDC fixed blade… 2.5" - 3"…

Been edcing a NYS from TK Steingass

Tonife finger knife neck rocket; great handle and sheath but super small and kinda thick blade; not the sliciest. CRKT Civet hollow ground clip; sucky handle but good in pinch; nice belly; sheath is not great. Esse Izula II; great everything... highly recommend.

Also look at A.Vigil. Had him make this with very similar requirements as you.

I would always recommend buying fixed blades from our custom makers here. They are very accommodating and price difference between them and some production stuff is negligible.

3.25” chisel ground
7” overall
Very grippy handle
Kydex

Another vote for the ESEE Izula 2. if you want to be a real buddy, get it from TKC with their G10 scales.

^Honestly no offense to the Guardian series (I own and like the G4), but I like that CM design better than the G3, or the specs on the G3.5. So much so, I'm PM'ing him about customizing one. :p

Did somebody say small fixed blade for EDC??

Top to bottom:
LT Wright Patriot
AG Russell somethingorother (had it for at least 15 yrs - no idea what it was called, or even if it is still available; but I like mine)
Dozier Modified Personal
BRKT Mini Fox River
Guardian 3
Daniel Fairly EDC (the handle didn't quite work for me; but I haven't gotten around to doing anything about it, so it sits)
Urge (probably the least sharp knife I've ever received - could barely tear paper...until I sent it to Josh. Left it for too long before doing that, though - totally lost interest in it)

I certainly haven't tried a lot of the ones that are suggested. I am seriously thinking of getting the Bradford Guardian 3, 3.5, or 4.... can't make up my mind. But right out of the box, I like the Dozier's the best; K-6 Companion, and the K-36(?) Personal with a modified sheepsfoot blade. The canoe model works too. His horizontal kydex sheaths are most excellent.

Tried the Blackjack 155, but really don't care for it as a edc. The sharpened edge is too close to your hand; needs a choil. You have to be too careful holding and using it for my tastes.
I like the Kabar Becker BK-14 with a custom or upgraded sheath, and TKC handles. Prefer to just buy a knife ready to go however. I don't have a good sheath for it and end up just sliding the BK-14/BK-24 into a back pocket in the factory sheath.

I agree with you there! The CM is always on me, guardian in the bag for back up. CM makes a hell of a product, and keeps you up to date during the build. Couldn't recommend him more highly.

I also like GL Drew's fixed blades. Picked this one up second hand for around $60. Same size range as the CM and G3.

Bradford knives are awesome.

My favorite EDC is from Gollik knives. mine is 3.5 inch blade Elamx steel, and a pry tool on the end. VERY good prices IMHO for a custom knife.
Another great custom maker is Austin Goldman. He makes a lot of great small knives. I have one is AEB L, and CPM 3V and both are awesome!! Another custom maker with great prices.

A good cheaper opportunity is a Real Steel Pointman, or a Ruike

Yep I've posted here about the Ruike Hornet, a beautiful little fixed blade EDC carry with a nice included kydex sheath, 14c28n Sandvik steel, and a nice blade design. For ordinary EDU tasks which of course is 99.999999999% of all my usage probably the rest of my life, it is great. Two things that would limit this knife if intending it for a potential self-defense role: it does not have a deep enough finger choil to ensure a strong grip for the kinds of movement that would be involved in defensive use. For comparison, Charlie Mike's design posted above does have a very deep finger choil, as does the Spyderco Street Beat. Also, the Ruike is very slim in the handle, and while this is good for lightweight carry, it's just a bit TOO narrow for my preference with larger than average hands, I don't have quite the grip stability with the Ruike that I get with my Street Beat.
