Thinking it's a great knife but not feeling the attachment.

It will grow on you, if you carry and use it a lot.
I had the same feeling, I've carried more then a year a PM1, the first time I handled a pm2 it felt like a toy.
Added a custom backspacer on the PM2 and carried it a lot, now I love the knife (second to my PM1 :D)

I like the PM2. The compression lock is wonderful... I also like the Caly Series in 3" and 3.5 blade-lengths. Somewhat more recently, I've grown attached to the Sage series of Spyderco. Here are a few of the Sage series. Perhaps the Sage 2 frame-lock in titanium is my favorite, but I also love the Spyderco Sage 3 in blue G10 as well as the Sage 3 in carbon fiber.

I will take a Sage 2 over a Para2 any day of the week. One of the best carry knives around.

I can see the appeal of a Para2 but will never understand peoples obsession with it.

I've looked at the Sage 2 but is that lock as strong as some of the others?

What do you mean by "as strong"

A good framelock with be fine for 99.99% of things we use folding knives for. Slipjoints have been in use for a long time and there is no lock at all.

I've felt this way about the Spyderco Gayle Bradley. It has perfect build quality, and material quality. But I just never warmed up to it, not sure why.

I'm sure it's a good knife and it looks solid but it's made in Taiwan. I like my knives to be made in the US.

I do too, but their Taiwan plant makes knives that are pretty great. The Southard is made there as well if I am not mistaken. It would be hard to argue that the Taiwan plant doesnt have the best finish and quality coming out of it. I understand wanting US made knives though, all of my folders are.

I saw a bunch of reviews on the ZT 0350. When I got it I used it a bit, but it was too short and wide. Sold that thing.

I can't flip it because I'm not gold member.

There are other knife forum, you know... (did I just say that?!? )

OR, you can get a gold membership here since they don't cost much and you can sell/trade it here.

I have felt the same way about the Benchmade mini-Griptilian. It's an awesome knife in it's own right, but I just haven't warmed up to it. I've owned 2 and they were the first one to be sold when I wanted a different knife. My Benchmade Rift, otoh, is one that I can't stay away from.

I've had that happen many times but only twice recently with the Kershaw Cryo and Benchmade Barrage. I couldn't stand how I had to switch where my fingers were so that I could work the framelock on the Cryo (being used to liner locks, where I grip it stops the framelock from moving) and the Barrage was just too bulky for my pocket. I ended up getting rid of the Cryo and returned the Barrage for a Benchmade 530.

Have you ever bought a knife that's been talked about alot and thought it was a great knife but didn't warm up to it for some reason?
I feel like this is happening right now to me with the PM2.
For me, it was spydie's military.
I think it a case of it being too large?
And not quite as slim as my favorite, the police.

cisland, I don't know what your needs are for EDC, but I am with you on the PM2. I AM a Spyderco guy, so I'm not a 'hater', LOL. The PM2, for me, has a couple hotspots in my grip. I think I am spoiled also by the feel of the lock-backs in my hand, in that there is no gaps between the scales that I can feel(annoy me) in the palm. The C-lock is also the opposite move from your experience with liner-locks, and that can take some getting used to.

So, I won't pester you about keeping the knife, if it's not moving you in some way. If you've only cut string, I would think you can return it to the vendor without issue, providing you otherwise meet the vendor's return policy. But, I would encourage you to try something with a solid , or partially solid back, like the Manix series, or a Stretch.

My grip is perfect on the PM2. Maybe because I'm used to a few lock backs that this is the first more involved lock type I've ever had. Actually I had the Benchmade 915 but sold it because it was too heavy and had too many things on it I didn't need.
Returning the knife is not an option at this point and I'm not into the Manix series. The Stretch looks interesting but not made in the US.
I'm carrying the PM2 again today so I'll keep playing around with it and see what happens. The knife in my opposite pocket is just a plain ole' Barlow.

Hi all,

I purchased (several years ago) a (very difficult to find) Spyderco Para Military ll to replace my long lost Spyderco "Endura". I must say, I LOVE this knife! I think of it as a BIG knife in a small package.
I recently had a "Watch shop" remove the pocket clip (was coming loose) as I do not "clip" this knife in my pocket, but rather carry deep (and alone) in front pocket, tip up. I find this knife a great combo of size/outstanding build quality/comfort/etc. Truth be told, I'm not generally a fan of "folders" but, I believe I've made a damn good purchase. I might add, this folder (and most pocket carry folders in general) require a bit of regular maintenance/cleaning which is OK for a guy like me who has a bit of ECD when it comes to cleaning. I even use "Doctors (brand)tooth Piks" with the lil' brush to get into the lock work and remove lint/dust. A clean Knife is a happy knife! Regarding not warming up to a certain knife.....I own a beautiful original SOG "SEAL PUP". I think I've used it one time. It's nicely built and all but, for some reason.....it's just never grown on me.

HARDBALL

I just got a Contego in a couple days ago. It is a solid, beast of a knife and my first blade made of cpm-m4. This knife could easily last me the rest of my life most likely. But...I'm far from crazy about it. I think my tastes have changed where I no longer need the biggest, baddest, overbuilt knife out there. I'm moving more towards smaller, more edc friendly knives. My TSF beast is the one I warmed up to the most and go no where without it.

I never could warm up to the PM2 for a number of reasons, and find the largest folder that fulfills my needs is the Delica, which does all the scut work when I'm on the boat fishing. That said, I have rekindled my affection for SAK knives in 93mm, which is about as large as I want to go for EDC, and performs 99.9% of the tasks I may encounter. I keep the last remaining PM2 in orange only as a collector piece.

At first I didn't know what some users were talking about when they said finger getting pinched when deploying the knife. My index finger gets slightly pinched when deploying. Is this a deal breaker for some?

the same thing is happening to me with mt ZT 0566, im sure its a great knife but for some reason it hasnt found its way into my pocket for more than half a day
