Thinking of selling my small reg

I like to sell knives here on the forums. Got to buy a membership but hey, it helps support this site which is good. Once you sell a few knives you will save money compared to ebays fees which are getting crazy.

+1 on the forums. I've done quite a bit of sales/buy/trades through them.

Use Bladeforums...great community of knife nuts  Ive had great experence and its very easy to do

Sell to the regulars here on BF. They aren't going to hassle you because they have reputations to uphold. And if a deal does go bad, you've got the rest of us to back you up.

You also need tohave the proper membership to sell it here. Currently, you do not.

Why sell your small regular? They aren't making the regular anymore.

Any trouble with getting paid?

No. If you decide to become a "Gold" member (Worth it, IMHO) & have anything F/S, it's normal to wait until you receive payment. Down the road, you'll probably deal with people you've dealt with before & then, sometimes, the knife & $ get sent at the same time. Probably the worst thing that'll happen when you're selling is someone might say they're buying & you exchange info, but the payment never comes. As long as you ship after receiving pmt, that shouldn't be a problem.

You can trade, though, W/O upgrading your membership. That's what I did at 1st, but got into it & got a Gold membership a few months later, IIRC. The trades are usually where there "could" be a problem. I say could, but I think overall, it's still pretty rare.

Just start out with BF regulars & you should be fine. However, on trades you might have to ship 1st.

Good luck.

Crazy ebay fees are right !!! Definately try and sell your knife here. Ebay fees are now 9%, so you would be ahead here by just selling this one knife and have a year membership to boot and can sell other knives with no additional fees. Paypal fees are very small when compared to ebay. Plus, it supports the site. I have sold alot on ebay and its getting tougher. I always list my knives to sell here first, only then if something does not sell on here does it go to the bay. I have never had any issue with payment or even trades. You do not ship the knife until paypal payment has been made, so your safe here just like if you were selling on ebay, plus you can earn feedback here as well and make alot of friends in the process......enjoy !!!

I've bought plenty of knives on the various forums with no problems ever. Generally don't sell my knives, but I've certainly sold other things on forum sites with no prolems at all.

If you sell it, sell it here. But as has been said, I would think twice before selling a regular because they are now discontinued and should you change your mind, it might be somewhat hard to find another one in a timely manner for a reasonable price.

I might be interested in buying it. Of course that depends on the knife's condition, price and whether you will sell to someone in Canada. You can email or PM me if you want to discuss it further.

Jake, keep in mind, you cannot sell on Bladeforums without that Gold membership or higher, and that includes having this discussion turn to offers to buy. We are now officially on thin ice.

Furthermore, any sales have to be in the Exchange forums, not here on a discussion forum.

KarlmaldensNose, please observe the proprieties and don't lead the new guy astray!

Since this discussion could apply to any item, not only to the CRK of the original post, I'm going to move the thread from Chris Reeve Knives to FEEDBACK.

Well, it looks like Jake has accomplished his mission; which was to circumvent the selling subscription process. The original post should probably have been edited out, before this happened, but that's just my opinion, I guess.

Absolutely. This didn't occur to me until you pointed it out.

Oh, come on... I doubt he was trying to skirt the rules. I mean, I've been posting heavily since I joined only a couple months ago and I'm still running into rules and etiquette issues (see above). In fact, I still don't see anything wrong with him asking about the how-to's, where's, etc. of selling on sub-forums outside the exchange, so long as his intentions are clearly innocent, which I think they are, and people don't go ahead and initiate offers (like I absent-mindedly did:o). Esav himself said that that this is "thin ice" territory and wasn't an outright infraction.

Some might characterize me as naive, and I do get burned every now and then, but it is in my nature to assume people are honest and have the best of intentions. :)
