Ok, so we all like to show off our knives and this a great community, so i thought it might me cool to have a thread (there may be one already but i didn't search too hard) where we can showcase knives that mean something special to us. It may be your first Fiddleback, it may be that you were gifted the knife by someone special or acquired the knife through an act of kindness. It may that it is flat to the most beautiful knife you have ever laid eyes on...whatever there must be a reason why it is special to you.
I'm sure there are many of us who can post multiple times in this thread, and thats fine, but lets keep it to one knife per post and a couple of pics with a nice description.

Hope y'all want to join in, so I'll get us started....

This is my first Fiddleback from June 2013. After a lot of research and hanging around the forum I decided the Kephart was the model that appealed to me most. Brian/Mistwalkers review of the Kephart I read earlier in the year helped to convince me.
This knife is special to me for several reasons...because it was my first Fiddleback, because it survived a Typhoon and subsequent theft, it got lost on the post and found its way back..this knife was destined to be with me. Spalted Maple Burl over black/grey liners, 5/32 TT O1, classic. Cheers, Jules.

This Fiddleback is special to me because it frikkin' glows in the dark and could be used to navigate underwater.

It is also one that I used to make another user very happy, so even though I don't have the knife right now, it has good memories and I know it is out there ready for work.

Great thread, bear.

It took about 1/10 of a second for me to think of what to share. A matching pair given to my wife and I as a wedding gift from a best friend of mine. He presented them to me at the old shop in front of Andy & crew on a Fiddleback Friday afternoon. That day will be remembered for a very long time. These blades deserved some special treatment when I got them home:

This is my Kephart there aren't many like it and this one is MINE. This Fiddle is special to me for a couple of reasons. My grandfather played the fiddle which drew me to the brand. Grandpa is also one of the main reasons I carry a knife as well. The scales are electric plum which reminds me of my daughter and I have two very cool cousins both named Andy. Ok so three

Cool story Jules and others.

Even though I find all my fiddlebacks special there are some that are extra special because they have been acquired with the help & kindness of friends I have made on here. Here is one from among many :
BTW this is the 3rd Kephart in this thread.

This Fiddleback is very special to me because it is one of a very small group of knives a dear friend submitted to the Knifemakers Guild :)

Haha, nice one Brian!

Lol, it is the most special one I have now. The first one, which should likely hold that honor...maybe, it is debatable I suppose...is no longer mine and resides in the safe of a friend. There is another one that is also very special to, but no pics of it yet. So far I have just enjoyed having it and carrying it. It is one I had waited on since a good while before Andy even made the Kephart model. More on that one later on :D

Man, this is a cool thread. I'm really appreciating the special ones, and the highly used ones. This is why I do it.

Love this thread. And yet, I found this surprisingly difficult. I took out every Fiddleback I own and held each one in order to decide - asking myself each time how I would feel if I had lost this one.

I didn't choose my first, or my favorite, or the blade I carry daily.

Rick sold me this one the first time I was invited to his house. I mentioned I wanted a Bushboot more than any other design, and he handed me this knife. It's my truck knife, so I don't carry it much. It's well used, scratched to hell, stained with patina, and shows evidence of my very poor sharpening skills. But I hold it as special. It's the knife I carried when I went to Trackrock, and I remember handing it to Phillip the moment I got there. Coming from Rick, who really introduced me to this community in so many ways, and carrying it at my first introduction to this group I now call my friends...well, it just holds a special place for me.

Funny how Kepharts keep cropping up...

Yes, the mid-tech Kephart is another very special one for me. I had wanted this model in this steel since the first days of the model. One day I will land the right custom shop version with the hand made handle.

This Handyman has been used a good bit more than the patina suggests. A2 just doesn't patina the same way O-1 does. The wear on the end of the pommel isn't from opening beers though :) Sadly I dropped it on a rock one day while trying to quickly capture an image and it landed right on that outside corner...

This just may be the best thread ever created. It really draws on the emotional side of why Fiddleback and Family knives can create such strong bonds beyond with their owners beyond the aesthetic. Will have my post in later today, got to dry my eyes first.

Cool thread. For me it's gotta be my first. I have ones that are prettier, more unique, etc. but this old school Bushfinger is special. It's the one that started me down the path of high quality hand made knives, from which there is no return. I'm pretty sure my wife cusses out Andy on a regular basis. It also kickstarted the desire to spend more time outdoors playing in nature.

This one was the first, it's been through a lifetime of work:

This was the first knife. I had wanted an EDC since Andy first started making them and could finally afford one in 2011. I have carried it nearly every day since, as long as I'm not at school. It will be the last knife I ever part with.

This Fiddleback F2 is special to me because Madden picked it out of all the knives I own to give to his heart surgeon to make sure he had the best tool for the job. It stayed with us that week in the hospital. It's also pretty cool that the handles are made from Andy's old kitchen counter tops.

I had a feeling that knife was going to show up in this thread.

Damn...life is good! And we are blessed.
