This is it!!!!

You guys are right...I think it's about to be a worliwide tendance...and political love this kind of laws in Europe! It make them look soooooo well thinking...

Looks like your new Swamp Rats will stay looking like new :grumpy:
No worries, just start carrying an axe :D

You'd think people would figure out one of these days that banning everything that is dangerous isn't the way to solve the problem. The way to solve the problem is to have stricter punishments for anyone who uses a dangerous item to commit a criminal act. Laws are useless if they aren't enforced properly.

I have a ATC Vietnam Tactical! :D and believe me My rats are gonna see the light whatever the laws they make ;)
You guys are gonna hear about a new "rambo" episode in denmark!
"Justice minister don't push me...Here I'm the law!":D

I hope that everyone who reads this will realize the importance of voting at every election. It all starts locally. Also, you gotta' write to your reps. It does make a difference.

gajinoz - Australia's gun ban was a huge tragedy. I almost couldn't believe it considering the Aussie's reputation for rugged individualism. My sympathies.
Also:
The equation Xn + Yn = Zn has no solution for non-zero integers x, y, and z if n is an integer greater than 2
- gajinoz

How about n=3 (greater than 2) X=3 Y=1 and Z=4 then
3(3)+1(3) = 4(3) or 9 + 3 = 12. ???

There should be a number 3, changing the name of the "justice minister" to the "gestapo nanny".

These restrictions are coming world wide if we don’t fight every time they try to take our freedom.

There's another old saying, "When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail."

The only tool politicians have is making laws. So, every problem looks to them like it can be solved with a law.

The true thinking man, though, is one who knows his own limitations, the man with a great hammer who knows not to pound on screws but to suggest instead that he's not the right man for this job and that you should call his friend who has a screwdriver. Unfortunately, politicians think that we expect them to solve every problem. They think that we'd think that not doing something is a sign of weakness on their part.

As my sainted father used to say, "It is a truly wise man who says, 'I don't know.'"

Likewise, it is a truly strong man who says, 'I can't solve this problem.'"

Politicians don't have the strength, the courage, or the wisdom to say, "More laws are not the solution to this problem."

Ummm.. no.

Your equation actually comes out as:

27+1 = 64 or 28 = 64

Try again. :)

Denmark has that covered too. They're going to pass another complimentary law against car accidents. No more car accidents; they're now illegal. So, that takes care of that problem.

gajinoz -

I kinda' thought that your n was intended to be superscript and thus "to the power of". That's what your reply indicates. But on my browser, it looks just like a regular multiplier.

Boy, I hope those old math nightmares don't come back . . . . .

That is a terrible situation. I'm sorry to hear of it. It also scares the heck out of me, because many leftist Americans look to Scandinavian countries as examples for the type of laws that we should pass.

I wonder if this is a reaction to the murder of Anna Lindh in Sweden? If I remember right, the UK passed their very restrictive gun laws after a psychopath killed a lot of kids in a classroom. The period of time right after a major crime is when it is most important to watch out for this type of law. The incident is still fresh in people's minds, so they are less likely to complain. Also, politicians with flawed reasoning and the wrong agenda will exploit the situation, because they feel that they can get away with it then. The U.S. saw the same type of reaction in 2001.

Hope you can prevent this somehow.

The poor citizens of Denmark now have to deal with knife control. Read what the a police officer in Australia says about the wonderful gun control that was enacted by the country's government. If I lived in Denmark I would totally ignore the law.

From: Ed Chenel, A police officer in Australia

Hi Yanks, I thought you all would like to see the real figures from Down Under. It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be
destroyed by our own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in: Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent, Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent; Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)! In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. (Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not ! and criminals still possess their guns!)

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in
armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly.

Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has
decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in
"successfully ridding Australian society of guns." You won't see this on the American evening news or hear your governor or members of the state Assembly disseminating this information.

The Australian experience proves it. Guns in the hands of honest
citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens. Take note Americans, before it's to late!

Interesting thread..., also totally depressing! Incredible how various political folks (not just in Denmark).., have become so pathetically sterile regarding any intervention that may lead them towards creative thought.

Olivier? Just a question out of my own ignorance. I have never been to Denmark, nor read much about the culture. Has there been some sudden increase in knife related crime in your country.., or is this simply the way the government is tending to move (i.e., creating superfluous legislation about inanimate objects, rather than legislation and enforcement pertaining to criminal acts)?

Just curious..., thanks..., and I'm sorry. I thought California was bad enough (and it is).., but that is simply ridiculous!

Mr. Silverweasel,

I hope that you have a credible primary source to cite for that information. I'd love to be able to shove that under the noses of the gun/knife control folks.

I have never been to Denmark

I was in Denmark just a couple of years ago and had a wonderful time. Rent a bicycle and bike through the Danish countryside. And the Danish people are all so friendly and intelligent. I really had just a wonderful, relaxing time in Denmark.

My eight-year-old was just reading this post. He asked me, "but Dad, if you make carrying knives illegal, aren't the bad people still going to carry knives, since they don't obey laws?" Out of the mouth of babes...

Too bad millions of other people don't get it!

It must be true that the majority of folks who are in politics are those that can't perform any other useful function in society other than produce CO2 for the plants.

Be illegal. The basic human right to defend oneself transends government regulations. It's too bad the Pagans aren't still in charge.

Hmmmmm, there's something rotten in Denmark... :)

Seriously, that sucks, its easy for us to say you should, well, essentially overthrow your govt, i wonder how many of us would really give up everything to make a point about knives and in effect, yes, freedom. Anyone? Bueller?
