So after handling it and getting to carry one for a day I have decided to buy the BM 915 triage. I have not got into buying online yet so I went to the local store and am paying full MSRP. Half down then the other half upon pickup. When I ordered it I was told that BM was gonna have it to me in 10 days at the absolute latest, but to expect more like 5 days. After a week I stopped by to check on what's going on and they had no information. 3 days later I stopped by again and they had just talked to BM and it had apparently been shipped and was on it's way. It has now been 2 weeks to the day and earlier today I get a call saying Benchmade will be receiving the handles tomorrow and then they will have to assemble the knife. I'm looking at another 10 days. I know this is not a super long waiting period as I did wait 3 1/2 weeks on my 551 Griptilian but I was told the knife was on it's way. I'm paying $180 for this knife and damn it I want my knife. I guess this could have gone in whine and cheese but I didn't plan on ranting here. Does this stuff happen to you guys often? I guess if I was told they were gonna take a month to send me the thing I would relax but I did have a 5-10 day period expected. Anyways sorry again for the rant and wrong thread.

Ask for a refund and buy it online. Significantly cheaper (like $60 savings) and you'll get it in 3 days. I suggest knifeworks.

Retail is great for browsing and instant gratification. If you have to wait weeks for it then what's the point?

Why is this in General. Please follow our rules. General is not about buying, selling, trading or the experience of those actions.

By the last sentence of your post you know that was not the right thing to do and you did it anyway.

My Apollogies, I am using an iPhone and could not switch it over. However (and in no way am I trying to argue here) I did ask if anyone else had this problem and I believe questions are allowed in general? I was mostly just explaining the exact situation which was a general discussion about what was going on. I personally think this thread could have gone in either General or Whine and cheese. Again I do not want to argue and if I'm overstepping any boundaries I am sorry.

Regarding the knife, I would second the above advice. It strikes me the local merchant is just stringing you along with whatever excuse they can come up with, or Benchmade is doing the same to them and it's getting passed on to you. Going from "it's on the way" to "we're waiting to get the handles and put the knife together" seems pretty thin. Either way there are several reputable online vendors where you can have it for less.

DR. BOOM, this did not belong in either General Knife or Whine & Cheese. It wasn't about the knife, it was about the dealer: put it in FEEDBACK next time.

Asking questions about knives is fine in General. The sticky at the top of General should be quite clear that these types of questions belong in GB&U.

The General forum is not about where to buy what or a place to note a problem with a dealer. I am not sure how to make that more clear.

If your merchant hasn't received it yet then more than likely he hasn't been billed for it either. You can go ahead and cancel your order with him and he should not be out any money. If you want it that bad verify that some one has it in stock, ask them to put their hands on it, and have them ship it to you Priority Mail or UPS with tracking. I bet you save some serious bucks that way.

I'll tell you what is rediculous: paying $180 for a knife you could have bought for about $65 less from gpknives.com, a forum sponsor.

Best bet is knifeworks or cowboy knives.
Got mine the day they came out, one in org one in blk!
Knife works for 130$ shipped, got it in 2 days standard shipping. Cant beat that with a stick:)

Yeah I know it would be cheaper online, I have not started buying online yet, I pretty most always deal in cash. My debit card has just the amount on it to keep it active. After all of this I'm gonna try an online order though.
Yesterday I got the call saying BM had trouble getting the orange handles produced and my wait pushed another 5 weeks. Lets just say that order has been cancelled and my money is never going through there again.
