THIS is the anything goes, keep it clean, blow off steam, W&SS chat.

Hey all,

I haven't been here posting much lately - what have I missed? Have we finally unanimously decided on the "there can be only one" knife and the definitive merits of batoning?:D

We are in the process of selling our house and buying a new one, and it looks like both ends of the deal are likely to work out.

The new place, about a 20 minute drive to the North, is on a small lake/big pond. I hope to add some fishing, etc. to my W&SS repetoire. I'm ashamed to say I have not gone fishing in probably 15 years!

There is also a generator hookup and a woodburning fireplace at the new house, so I can set up to be a little more self-reliant during power outages and such.

Congrats on the new place Foilist, I hope the closings go smoothly!

If you need any help figuring out how to fish that lake/pond of yours, I will selflessly donate my time to your cause!

Private lakes hold some of the biggest bass I have caught!

Thanks, Tony. It isn't really my pond, but the place we're trying to get is just about the only house on it, so I figure there will be no harm in seeing what is lurking in there. I noticed a bunch of fishing tackle in the house when we were checking it out. I'll ask the seller what sort of luck he's had in there.

Ooooh, no deflating that beauty!

Seams you're doing well for yourself bro.

Thanks, Tony! Okay, unrelated...seen in a San Fran newspaper. Idiots really do exist...

A little check, maximum life spans of whitetail and cattle are near 20. Average lifespans are 3-4 years for whitetail and 3 years if you are a meat cattle. Hunter goes in and harvests a 3 year deer which romped around getting as much (white)tail as he possible could. That castrated bull is force fed, had his balls removed so he could grow faster and driven to the slaughterhouse at the same age. I sure feel sorry for that deer! :D

I give up.... I just can't make it through a 2x4 in one swing

Have you made a katana yet? Actually, did that giant parang you did last year almost make it through?

That is one serious cut!

I know a lot of people here treasure their canine companions and include them in your outdoor adventures. We've got a fight brewing up here in Nova Scotia for a breed specific ban on certain dog types, most notably (as usual) Pit Bulls and anything that remotely looks like one.

This is something I'm viciously opposing and wish to bring to the attention of like minded BF members. Please read today's article on my blog as well as the associated links it contains at http://randy.whynacht.ca/archives/4477

I fully agree with you. I think the emphasis should be focussed on the owner responsibility of large physically powerful breeds. This should have been posted in Political/W&C and a link provided for us here..... or posted in the "Post Anything" sticky at the top of the subforum main page.

My family is currently looking to move to Nova Scotia... thanks for the heads up.

Being a Rottweiler owner, this crap drives me crazy. I can't take my dog into one of the counties here in MD (said county just happens to border on D.C. proper...) without a muzzle on him. If he doesn't have a muzzle, I can be fined if I don't have proof that I don't have some kinda special liability insurance on him, and he might be taken. I took my previous Rotty into an REI in College Park MD years ago, and they felt so bad for her they told me to take the muzzle off, I was on private property. Pretty cool IMO. But anyway, the f***ers that feel compelled to meddle with everyone else's lives are the true enemy. Bas***ds.
