this is what addiction looks like

I think the only time I've seen a bigger pile of sharp pointy things was my visit to Auntie's. I think she still has more but it would be a close thing.

No bitterness just friendly competition. I had set limits for myself and Gehazi earned them fair and square.

Limits is my middle name. I don't do ebay very often but maybe we need a ebay group here so we can discuss what we're seeing and not bid against each other TOO BAD.
I admit I have been looking for older HI stuff there. I get all the new modern stuff from Auntie though.
If I was to see a Bura and recognize it I'd probably toss a bid or two in. I'd like to have one just cause ya know.

Conflicting to have all these wants and desire with "Limits". I hate limits. Did I tell you I hate limits?

I want to know who bought that Kothimoda Everest Katana off ebay last week!! If it was one of you guys I think you owe us some pictures, at the very least!

That is an impressive collection.

Are there any HIs left for the rest of us? :)

yeah whoever won that kothimoda katana really made out like a bandit, only reason I did not bid is because I dont really dig katana, I am a indo persian weapons man.--- If the forum is not opposed I have no problem with letting you guys know about ebay HI blades
I Just want them in the hands of people who appreciate what they are -- all the ones I got from ebay in the last month are bura's and thats exactly why I bought them. my most sought after are from the early years when the sarki still did designs on the sheathes like mine.

Right now there is a very cheap very dirty knife that ndog is winning on ebay, there are a couple of swords but the 350 isnt a fair price imo, and they dont tell you who made them.

I saw that one Gehazi, it was a rusty and scratched WW2 model(I think) right?

I'm curious to what kami made that one, do you happen to know?

I don't want to buy it so don't worry about that, I'm just curious. ;)

I think we determined it was a Dill. I don't know much more than that and not even that for sure. I didn't bid since others here were on it. Too much now for what it is to me anyhow.

Im out of it now. Someone outbid me so i let it go. Thanks to Gehazi i got my eye on something else:D Kami mark looks like a flower? Lotus flower? Ive not heard of Dill either?

exactly why we are talking to each other, much more money than that its not worth it !

I've never heard of Dill before either, it must be quite an old piece for what this rookie knows.

several kami only worked a year or less , because of the nature of the biz , its one of the fun parts for me is trying to compare work from different kami, can only do that at HI

I won't let my blades stay shiny on my wall for too long... THey usually loose their luster after a week of hard work. As long as I take the rust off and re-sharpen it, Its as good as new in my opinion. That being said... Ill take a tin churra and be on my marry way good sir.

yeah I think I use perhaps 3 knives out of all of them, though the small ones I plan on using for kitchen work !( my bura siru and my two keshar utility villager knives)

I agree. Id rather give Aunti the money. It got my interest because I didnt recognize the Makers mark or the model for that matter. Looked like a giant Pen Knife to my eyes. Had very forward belly like a bonecutter or ganga ram? If it was a rare piece I just hated to see it go to the crusher somewhere.

yeah ebay is worth looking for the work from 10 years ago , and if you have a fondness for bura like I do, and durba and sher and all the old kami on the spring medallion I look for on ebay all the time, that knife if it goes for that price will def be worth it and will clean up just fine.
