This is what happens when the edge is thinned out too much.

I have set my edges with infi to 15, 18, 21 and 24 degree's and I've found that anything below 21 ends up like that if you use it on abrasive material. At 21 and 24 it's pretty stable and lasts a long while with moderate use.

I found that out. :D

I usually stay at 20 degrees with my choppers, but I wanted to see what 15 degrees would do, then went less than that.

Think I will be sticking around 20 degrees from now on.

Lucky I had bought extra stones for my Edge Pro because the 120 and 320 are about wasted, the 320 is about gone.

it's worth buying 5 of the 120's at a time if you use it extensively, especially if reprofile on a regular basis. They last for about 2 knives if your going from 40 down to 21.

They are still good, I have some life left in them yet, I flattened them today and cleaned up the others.

What's weird is that the 220 is still like new, that is a hard wearing stone.

I have an extra 120 ,220 and 320. :)

I think I need to get a few more 120, and 320 stones though.

I keep mine in a big glass of water. :D

I have done a bunch of knives with mine sofar and they seem to last pretty well, but reprofiling does wear on the 120 if I have to remove a lot of metal.

i've gone through 6 120's (about one layer of stone grit away from the aluminum backing) and 1 220. The 320, 600 and 1000 stones are all discolored, but have no visible concavity to them. it's like I just rubbed metal powder on the surface of a new stone.

Maybe I just had a softer 320.

The 220, 600 and 1000 were still flat, but I still used the silicone carbide to clean them up.
