It locked up and wouldn’t open, got way too dirty. I took it apart and lost some washers, now it doesn’t work right. Live and learn. How is your AD15 unusable?
Anyone who carries the Espada XL to his own wedding is a badass!!R rlewpolar
I whipped that exact knife out my pocket at my wedding and cut the came with it. I sent them a picture and they posted it on their instagram! LoL. It oddly carry-able and well made. My wife got me the fancy large espada for my birthday the following year and its really nice.
Cold Steel isnt my favorite brand but their stuff has never disappointed me. I like that they make novelty type item. Occasionally I carry the fancy one just for kicks.
This is why I don't take apart knives. A hot soapy bath and then spray it with some wd40 has always done the trick for me. I feel like you should be able to find some washers to make it complete againIt locked up and wouldn’t open, got way too dirty. I took it apart and lost some washers, now it doesn’t work right. To be fair, my wedding was in my back yard because of Covid lockdowns, and everyone that knows me knows I always have a knife. It was kinds of a not-so-inside joke with all of my guests. The funny thing is I had it in pants of a nice suite that was made of pretty thin material for summer events. Nobody even noticed it was there until I waved it out on the cake cutting photo! Most people laughed. I also heard an “oh jeeze” (my mom), a “WOW” and a “figures!”Anyone who carries the Espada XL to his own wedding is a badass!!
It’s been sitting in the same spot for a year now, I forgot about it until something reminds me of it.This is why I don't take apart knives. You can get washers that fit the AD 15 (also fit the AD 10). I got thicker phosphor bronze washers to replace the teflon and phospo factory washers and it works great. It locked up and wouldn’t open, got way too dirty. I took it apart and lost some washers, now it doesn’t work right. Live and learn.
As soon as I saw your post, I did just that, lol.For those of you who don't have one, do yourself the favor of going to score an SR1 Lite right now.
AUS10a has always been a great steel. It was very popular back in the 90's and early 2k.The 4max Scout has no business cutting the way it does for its size and thickness, agree 100%. The convexed San Mai Trailmaster always felt that way to me. How can it be possibly cutting like that? The other one that blew me away with its sharpness is the Recon Tanto. It’s the stickiest sharp knife I’ve ever handled hands down.
AUS10A is great stuff. It’s a great all arounder and tough
YUP!!! I did just that this morning, lol.Good lord, you people need to stop cajoling me into buying another Cold Steel that I totallydon'tneed.
your customs are out of this world. In my opinion Cold Steel makes the greatest folding stiletto that has ever been made, the Ti-Lite 6. I've seen two torture test videos of the Ti-Lite 6, one from Cold Steel, the other from Joe X, and the amount of abuse and stress the knife can take without breaking apart or the lock failing is beyond impressive.
The Ti-Lite 6, both in it's original form, and my various customized versions, is my all-time favorite knife. And as someone who has had a lifelong passion for folding stilettos, and has been less than thrilled with what was available, the Ti-Lite 6 is nothing less than a dream come true for me.
I've owned 11 of them. Only one was sub-par due to a late lock-up. But I chose to keep it as a parts knife and to experiment with various customizations. I will also add that the GSM Cold Steel Ti-Lite 6's have been of the highest quality in my opinion (maybe even better than the pre-GSM ones).
Thank you to Lynn Thompson and Phil Boguszewski for making the Ti-Lite 6 a reality. And another thank you to GSM for continuing to produce it.
And what the hell, a gratuitous pic of one of my customized T6's.
