This is why I’m a Cold Steel fan boy

I was very late to the Cold Steel party. When I heard Mr. Thompson was selling the company, I scrambled to pick up a representative assortment of Cold Steel knives, just in case things would take a drastic change for the worse or the new owners would fail and the company would be gone.

I found out I had been missing out on a good thing! And don't even mention the Demko stuff...

I used to think the huge Cold Steel models were a joke until I actually held one. My huge XL Espada (G10) is as well put together as any "higher end" knife I own and I love it.

I have all three blade types of the Recon 1, a 4-Max Scout, an AD10, an XL Espada, an XL Voyager, a L Voyager, Air Lites in both blade types, three Verdicts, a GI Tanto, a Recon Tanto, a Kobun, a Canadian Belt Knife, an Outdoorsman Lite, and others I'm sure I'm forgetting.

My edc has always been a Benchmade, Spyderco, Emerson, ZT, etc, but I found the Cold Steel Air Lite drop point to be a new favorite. (That is, until I picked up a Demko AD20.5. And then another, and then one more.)

I'm glad the company continues to produce some of the best values in knives.

I don't know how I feel about some of Cold Steel's newer designs, but I still consider them a favorite brand, and at some point probably, I'll be replacing my old Espadas. My second folding knife ever, the Mackinac Hunter, is actually on my belt right now.

That's while I'm also carrying a CRK, so there's your indicator that even old Cold Steel is pretty good.
