I saw this thread get bumped recently with a couple of new posts. That reminded me that I have not done an updated collection photo since I picked one up at the Outlaw Cut gathering last October.
While I am content with owning only one on most CPK models, DEK’s (and EDC’s) have become sort of an addiction for me.
Here is my current DEK family photo.

Before I worked on this post, I went back to Page 1 of this thread to rereadPàdruig ’s excellent opening post about the differences and attributes of each variation between the DEK 1, 2, & 3. I agree with all of his observations and visceral reaction to each in hand.
It is still amazing to me how @Lorien and @Nathan the Machinist took the same masterpiece handle scale design and attached it to different blade shapes and steel thicknesses to create three unique identities in a knife.
Fast forward back to present day, there are a lot of folks on the hunt for DEK 2’s & 3’s because they are scarce relative to demand and not likely to be made again according to Nathan. I won’t discourage those searches, but I firmly believe that the DEK 1 is the Goldilocks choice of the three. If my entire DEK collection was gone tomorrow in a fire or burglary, I would get a DEK 1 in D3V with a swedge and not feel lacking in any way.
I attached a couple of quotes below from the first pages of this thread that share that opinion. There are many more if you care to look further into this.
There is much rich history and experienced comments in this thread. I thank all of you for your input.

Excellent post, Phil. Your collection is brilliant, and as my kids would say, "Those DEK3s are fire!" (I think they would use more emojis though)
The DEK1 still remains an excellent piece of everyday cutlery.
(pardon the poor pic)
