This one impresses me!

Is this 337 assist? Yep; see the resemblence and they're really nice! Buck sure seems to be coming on strong now!

The 337 is called the Paradigm Pro and has an S30V blade. The 336 is the Paradigm Avid and has a 13C26 Sandvik blade. They both have the ASAP assided opening system.

So Dave were all the Paradigms you got centered like this? Tony says his was. Here's mine:

I'm starting to develop a distinct bad attitude about Buck quality. It seems like every new model knife I've bought recently has had issues. I love the new knives ergo and designs but there seems to be repeative issues around Fit and Finish.

G, you seem to be having a run of bad luck getting those. My Avid is a hair off center in the same direction as yours but not even close to contacting the liner. I hadn't even noticed it until I got it out after reading this. I don't have the 2nd Pro yet, but it may be here today. I'll take a picture of all three side by side when it gets here.

I just got the 2nd Pro and it's blade is a bit off centered when closed also. Not to the extent of Flatlanders and it doesn't contact the liner, but it is noticable. It also has a tiny issue with the inletting of the shield. They must have a problem with the CNC machining.

As an aside, I'm pretty inpressed with the dealer (online not Ebay) that I got it from for a couple of reasons. Number 1, I ordered around noon on the 4th and it came just now, around noon on the 6th, and number two, they included a small container of bandaids with it!;)

Here's my three, todays new one (Pro) on the left, older one in the center and the Avid on the right. After looking at the picture, the slight angle that the new one is at makes it appear that the blade is against the liner but it's not.

Here's the new one. It's darn close to rubbing the liner. What's the fix for that?

I guess mine is about the same as this one. I've tightened the pivot screw but got no affect! I don't know what to do with it but try not to let it bother me. The blade is not rubbing but damn close to it. It locks up tight and otherwise functions perfectly. I'm still aggravated about it just a wee bit.:grumpy:

If you send it back to Buck,I'm sure they will correct the problem. It seems they have some of the same blade centering issues,as with the vantage series. If the blade touches the frame at all,to me that's a show stopper.I have the Vantage Avid and the blade slightly favors the logo side of the frame.I have a Paradigm Avid on back order, when I get it if the blade touches the frame she's going right back to Buck for repair. When I put a knife up to the light,I want to see at least a little bit of light between the blade and the frame.

I'm sure glad to read all these stories. I was planning to order an Paradigm and an Vantage pro, but decided to wait untill I hear some better reports. I don't want to have to send them back to Buck for repair. Looks like they need a another quality control person.

I just can't see where it would make any difference unless it caused the blade to rub and scratch....

I really like the looks of the Paradigm. That said, I think I will pass, or at least wait, until they can improve the QC....
It may not be a big deal if its not rubbing, but for those of us that are picky, little things like this are very annoying.

There is absolutely no excuse for not centering the blades. Companies have been doing it for years, with equipment that is far less technologically advanced than what is in use today.

No doubt Buck would repair it if sent in, but a person shouldn't have to buy a knife knowing that they are going to have to turn around and send it back so it can be finished properly...

Hopefully its just a few that are having issues, and not most of them

For all my bitching guys, I do like the Paradigm...Really. I still recommend it.
But I am annoyed with the QC.

Yeah it's sort of like buying a brand new car that needs a wheel alignment. What gets me is, this has been an ongoing problem that I know they are aware of!

Hey Guys, please don't get wrong this looks like a really great knife and that is why I still have one on back order. As for the Vantage Avid I do have, man I just love that knife! For the price I believe you won't find a better folder! To me,Buck is THE AMERICAN KNIFE.Call me crazy but when I'm packing a Buck, there is a little bit of pride riding along with it.They just need to do a little better job centering that fantastic blade in the frame.

I've had my Paradigm Avid for a few days now. I keep flicking that thing open.
I've decided I'm very intrigued with this new lock system. Very, Very sturdy set up.
The assist on mine is very fast. Frankly, I can see this knife being Buck's Flagship knife in the 21st Century (at least until the Dems outlaw assist knives).

This is just a cool design. I don't think it'll be out of my pocket for a long time if ever.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
