I first want to apologize if this isn't the correct forum to post this topic. If I'm wrong, I politely asked for it to be moved.
A well known dealer has once again re-listed a previously "sold" knife, after it was "sold" in minutes of its original listing. It seems this dealer (often overpriced IMO) sells them so fast, you can't refresh at 3:05 fast enough. My below comments are based on the fact that two particular knives they "sold", were two they only received one of each of.....that's a fact. I know it for 100% certainty, as I know exactly what they were shipped, how many of each knife they received, how many were actually made, imported, and sold to said dealer (from one particular maker). You can't sell what isn't made, and they didn't anticipate an end user knowing what I know.
OK, I figured out how their system works. Below is the outline;
Knives listed at a specific time of day.
Shortly after listing, hot makers knives show "sale pending"...then in a few days "sold".
Anywhere from 10-14 days later, knife re-listed again, and in several cases, listed for a higher amount.
What's being created is a "sense of urgency" , and playing on the end user to make an impulse buy. This is about as shady as it gets. It's no coincidence this same dealer has been seen at shows "winning" 5 knives from one maker when the maker specified on ONE person, and ONE ticket per person or they would no longer be eligible for more knives in the future. Interestingly enough, the dealer has 5 different people they know all win a knife....what luck huh? This has been seen FIRST HAND. Their shady practices carries over to the selling side as well.....shocker. I also know for a fact, many of the knives are sold prior to them being listed for a lower amount. They are then listed at an amount higher than their actual sales price, but immediately marked "sold".
I haven't named any names, but I'm sure nearly all that read this can figure out who it is.
I'm not saying don't buy. But I am saying don't get sucked into over paying for a knife because you're led to believe it's the last one, or they're selling so fast.
I also want to emphasize, this isn't the same dealer I had words with in a previous past regarding custom dealers, and why we don't need them. That particular dealer has made adjustments and is playing fair.
