This woman could no doubt show us all a thing or two !

I find this sentence confusing: "The 58-year-old has spent the past 13 years living with no electricity in her self-built roundhouse, generating her own power and growing her own food."

So she lives with no electricity and generates her own power?

You aint kidin. They said she was a vegetarian but I'm pretty sure she would eat both Hanzel and Grettle given the chance....moley..moley....moley..Mole...MOLE..Bloody mole!

Hehehehe

She is living the life. I really would like to set aside a time and spend a while with people that live like this...the things that you could learn!

The chickens and goats i understand, even for a vegetarian (eggs and milk), but what are the horses for? Only think i can think of is a means of transport, now that she shuns all forms of technology.

I like how she found a balance between living alone and having people around her (and making a buck). I dont think i'd last for 13 years without anybody else around.

The inside of the hut looks does look very cosy.

wowza If i came across her in the woods, my instant thought would be holy $%*& the blair witch is real

I'd guess that the horses are for working the fields, plowing, dragging tree trunks for firewood etc

Her husband left her just a few years ago. He still owns all the adjoining land and rents it to the other members of the commune. Most of them use some sort of technology and have outside jobs. Her husband is a published author and lives in modern society now. As do their grown children.

Those would be warts. Just perfect for a witch living in the woods.

150 years ago, they would have burned her at the stake.

Harsh. You can't even drop out of society without a bunch of faceless posters commenting on your looks. I wonder if a homely man doing the same thing would draw the same ire.
