A nice variety of grinds and materials... these will be going up for sale as soon as I weigh 'em and get the specs all typed out.

Lookin' good James.
What is the handle material on the center one?

Thanks! It's black G10 with a checkered texture on one face; I got it from Alpha Knife Supply. I'm not entirely sure how they make it that way? I presume they make it normally and press it with a die or something before it cures. It makes for a nice grippy handle.

(L to R) CPM-3V and black neoprene, CPM-3V and black paper micarta, CPM-154 and textured G10, CPM-154 and carbon fiber, and O1 with green G10. The middle one is still hanging around, the rest have found homes :)

I like the way it looks. I'm thinking that hunting season is coming up really soon and that needs to be on somebody's hip. It should work really well on Elk, Moose or Deer.

James, how do you finish the pin that is in the middle of the checkered area without running down the checkering?

I was wondering why you didn't do bolsters/guards on your knives and then saw the prices.....VERY nice work for the money. You are selling hand made knives for prices that factory knives bring. No wonder you have a loyal following.

I just grind the bolt down till it's flush with top of the checkering, so it doesn't irritate the hand. It's not difficult, it just requires a little care.

Thank you for your interest! I try to keep most of my knives fairly simple. They are all meant to be used. :)

Hi James,

The vast majority of knives that I own are meant to be used....that was the maker's intention and execution....some are simply too wonderful and irreplaceable to get into the using knife rotation.....and still, sometimes I do it anyway....tee hee.

It's something to look at 10 or so fixed blades and the same in folding knives that are custom made, use them hard and assess the results.

When first posting on BFC, it didn't matter to me much how the results posted were recieved, but after a long period of evaluation, it became clear that more people than should were taking this as gospel....so I stopped posting so much on usage.

I think I get what you are trying to do, and encourage it.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

You are doing some amazing stuff James. As soon as I decide just what I want, I am going to have to place an order with you. Maybe something big and in 3v...

Thanks! "Big" and "3V" work very well together :)

I'm puttering around with a big 3V prototype that is downright spooky. It should be ready to unveil for the holidays.

I'm working with a guy on something VERY big and VERY 3V!
Lookin forward to seein what you gots up yer sleeves there James...

Some recent pics of the THK Bushcrafter seen above in its natural habitat, taken by the new owner. Thanks vnmm73!

Here's a sneak peek at a new model I'll be testing at the Beckerhead Gathering this weekend... more pics and test results next week sometime.

This is a little side-project I did for myself; just a few mods on a classic Becker given to me by a dear friend. This will be coming along for testing as well.

KNice!
I like the look of the new model and that BK-5 looks COOL!
The Beckerheads are going to flip.

Awesome looking work being done here in the Volunteer state brother!

Go Vols! I came this close to putting orange G10 scales on that BK-5 :D But that figured curly redwood just spoke to me... actually, it whispered like a seductress... wild as a mink but sweet as soda pop... ;)

The Beckerheads are one thing... Mr. Becker himself is another. It's just a tiny bit intimidating to take a perfectly good knife, foul it all up and bring to The Man's house and see if he likes it
