Thomas Jefferson

What's on the knife? I'm no Early American knife expert, but I think I can pick out a main blade, a saw, a corkscrew, an awl (starting to sound a lot like a Swiss Army Knife) and a thing that looks like a shoe button hook. Any other ideas or guess? Hey, Skunk, how 'bout one made out of INFI! A folder plus!

Aside from what you have listed there is a second sheeps foot blade and a thinner needle punch adjacent to the shoe button hook ... probably used for punching through leather to repair saddlery ... then there is an interesting final item that looks akin to the holders you get on multi tools which take different screw driver sized inserts ... allowing for the era I think that is designed to take a piece of twine soaked in cordite ... used in connection with a flint to light it ... it then becomes a "permanent match" ... similar to that used by artillery cannon fusileers ( the guys who lit the fuse ) but on a smaller scale. I am guessing here but I saw a similar design on a Ray Mears episode used by the interior explorers in Australia for fire lighting.

an interesting man. several years after his wife died and he was ambassador to france, he began a lifelong monogamous
relationship with a slave girl, sarah hemmings(nicknamed sally). she was also a half sister to his deceased wife, martha.
sally was 1/4th black and was sad to be vey attractive. sally could have stayed in france free from slavery as slavery was illegal in france . her brother james was also in france and could have also stayed in france, but chose to come back to virginia as a slave. i wonder why?

The right tool, and all that!

T.Jefferson was an ass-whipper. I'd love to see him and Hussein Nobama in a debate. HILARIOUS!!! Our founding fathers are probably rolling in their graves. Oh yeah..., nice knife.
