Thoughts on the new GEC Hound Tooth?

Being a huge fan of stag I'm going to wait for that one. The bone isn't bad though.

I've been looking at it. Love the shape of the handle and the blade, but don't like the scales. I'm waiting for the releases in other materials, possibly a nice red bone, but I'll surely get one.

I love the look of it and intend to get one if they offer it in Ebony, an option I have not seen yet.

They are coming out in red bone. Have you seen them?

Man I would love to see this knife in ebony or some cool acrylics. Never seen a release with such few choices.

I'm quite fond of the looks of the hound's tooth. It looks like my #56 Dogleg Jack, but tweaked to something more inline with my personal taste. As much as I love my #56 the more I look at the #55 the more I feel like it's my knife. I seldom ever use my Pen blade, and feel like the larger spearpoint blade, is cooler anyhow, but every bit as useful as the clip point blade on my #56 with a bit more size to it.

Yes, this is what I feel. That prototype with the cloud shield, 4 pins in Ebony was GIANT attraction.
Some tasteful acrylic Rootbeer, Tortoise, Coffee House would be really something too. Real lack of choice on this one, disappointing.:grumpy:

Tidioute: Bocote, Red Bone
Northfield: Bone (TBD), Burnt Stag, Natural Stag

From a little different perspective.... They are doing each handle in wharncliffe / spear and each of those in lock / non-lock. So, dealers have to buy 4 knives to have one each; which gets very expensive just to carry the variations that customers may want. So, it would be great to have more handles, but can't say my pocketbook minds the limited number so much.

The Ebony version was a set-upknife/test pattern only. There will be no regular production knives in Ebony.

That's disappointing. I would have bought one. I've been thinking of finding an ebony handled single blade wharncliffe (and the Case sway back gent is hard to find and the steel is barely adequate).

I have the Case Swayback Jack, and I looked at the Gent. They are both CV steel so not bad. The Hound Tooth will be my EDC for a while for sure!

The only Sway Back Case in CV is the chestnut bone one. The rest, including the ebony, are the stainless Tru-Sharp. I want carbon steel with ebony handles so I can get a nice patina on it.

Thats a shame! I didnt know that. Should all be CV. As a matter of fact Case should just do CV exclusively!

Well I held out for as long as I could.

I just ordered a #55 wharncliffe blade with bocote wood covers.

I can't believe I was able to wait this long. I can't resist a wharncliffe blade. Looking forward to getting this one (not a bad price either).

I'm amazed that I haven't ordered one already, but I am looking for a 66 jack. Money is tight so it might be a while; spent too much money on knives last month. Bought some cheapies this month too, but the GEC 15 pattern hijacked my wallet last month.

The natural stag in wharncliffe is published. I like it and waiting for it to hit the shelves.

They finally listened to some of you and did a nail nick on a northfield wharnie. Looks good in stag but Ill get the wood if I get one.

I do like the stag, very nice looking. On this knife I like the look of the wood better. I do like the swedge that is ground on the blade of the stag covered knives.

Northfield bone looks to be Autumn Gold.
