So after ignoring Toor’s folding knives due to the pocket clip (the regular version left too much knife sticking out), I got the word that Toor has begun using deep-carry clips, so I bought one here on the exchange and gave it a chance.

The overall build of the knife is solid, your basic titanium folder with s35vn steel. Retails at just south of $300 for an American made knife. I picked mine up on the secondary for SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper (like south of $200), which made this a steal.

The blade shape reminds me of a sort of “skinner” type profile without the upswept curve, maybe due to the thin profile. The blade slices through things very well, but doesn’t seem so thin behind the edge that it would be “delicate” (WE and CIVIVI tend to be very thin blades).

The pocket clip seems a little thin and springy, I had to adjust it to tighten it up a little.

I have been carrying it for a few days, and it seems like a good EDC option. Thin profile, but good strength in the build and blade. It has led me to take a look at their wide array of fixed blades. Looks like they’re doing decent work, but the biggest positive (as demonstrated by the merchant 2.0) is that they seem to be taking feedback from customers on things, which I can only assume was the reason they went to a deep carry pocket clip.

I don’t hear much from people about Toor’s folders. What have been your experiences?

I'm sorry if that sounds weird, but isn't the handle getting thinner and thinner towards the blade a disaster just waiting to happen?

I still use and carry the first version. No issues after carbidizing the lock face. The clip still annoys me a bit, but it hasn't been an issue tbh. Still, I'd throw that version of the clip on if they had made it compatible.

I'm not sure why they switched to a domed pivot, any idea? They billed that as a requested/desired feature, not a necessary part of switching to a thinner frame. I like the first version that's flat and even with the frame.

Looks like the thumb studs are less aggressive. Does it wave out, or can you get it to? That was a complaint I'm the last thread about it (though I like being able to do it).

I like the original's thicker frame (even though that makes it 5oz). That is part of what makes the first version some comfortable and why I keep it around for whenever I do harder cutting. Curious to try the new version though and see what is/isn't lost.

No issues there. The cutout by the lockface keeps the forefinger in place and the jimping for the thumb works well. Also, you’ll notice the curves of the grip seem to follow the meaty portion of the hand, which helps as well.

The lockface on this one seems perfect. I have no stick whatsoever. None. Which seems unlikely given how small an operation they are… so that’s a plus. The original clip placement was a dealbreaker for me. Way too much knife was sticking out.

No idea. Are domed pivots usually preferable to flat? I sort of like the look of the dome. Adds a little pizzazz.

The thumb studs definitely protrude beyond the scales, I like them because they’re nice and big and make flicking it very easy. I think you could wave it at the right angle.

I never tried the old, but I would if it had a deep carry clip. I think I saw one of the knife retailers had an exclusive on a smaller Toor knife come out yesterday with a G10 show side and shorter blade. I might check that one out as well.

I pulled mine out this morning excited to carry it again thanks to the thread. Looking at it now, although I thought the flat pivot was a cool feature when I got it, with yours, everything domed. I can see how that's preferable to the mix. I can't unsee the mismatch now:

Also looking again, I think the thumb studs on yours might be wider in diameter. Maybe it's a visual trick from the design difference, stepped vs concaved? They look good though on the 2. I don't think I've seen that design before. They're nice? As you say, they stick out so far from the body, I imagine it's easy to open regardless of the stud design.

For comparison

Hey, thanks for not pre-banning me from the thread! Or perhaps you forgot...

Anyway, I'd never buy as the butt end of the handle looks disproportionately big for no reason. So it is a purely aesthetic hard pass for me. Aside from being another Ti framelock in a flooded sea of such things, it looks good on paper and the price seems fair.

Let’s stay on topic.

I explained earlier why I believe the butt of the handle to be larger. Post #4. Maybe you missed it?

Thanks for sharing.

I’m not certain but it looks like the same torx size fits all the screws?

Here is a pic of the thumb studs. They aren’t stepped on this model.

Seems to me they purposely made the handle look different than say a CRK, which the knife shares a strong resemblance. Which is totally fine, not really a functional thing for me and not my cup of tea. Enjoy the knife bud!

Yeah sorry, I see absolutely zero resemblance to CRK here. Okay thanks for stopping by!:thumbsup:

t8 on the pivot and t7 on the clip/body ones on mine. It would've been nice if they were all the same, but glad they aren't t6 anyway.

The big butt end was one of my major draws. It seems like a modern take on the 110 to me. The handle thickness is similar as well. I see influence drawn from that and not a CRK. Considering they set up shop practically next door to where Buck was, it seems to make sense. And I definitely agree with King of the Cheese King of the Cheese it really locks your hand in. Here it is with a 110 for comparison:

Hey, different strokes for different folks! Glad you like it and that feature is a draw for you. Just looks like a funky CRK with some junk in the trunk to me  :p 😁 ;)

Well I guess I don’t see it. What exactly about it is similar to the CRK? The fact that it’s made out of titanium? 🤷‍♂️

In any case, the knife might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but maybe we can appreciate small American makers stepping up to try new things. Just my two cents.

No thanks, I don't think I want to engage with you further on this. We've all seen how that goes, but thanks anyway.

Oh okay. Well you’re welcome to stop posting at any time, that’s all up to you. I didn’t mean to frighten you by asking you to validate your remark that the knife looks like a CRK. Sorry. 😕

That knife looks amazing, how do you like it?
So far so good. Only had it for a couple of days now. My one complaint would be the action out of the box was stiff. It does seem to have gotten better and like I mentioned in my previous post, a reverse flick opens it everytime. While a thumb deploy is ify.
I haven’t messed with the pivot or checked the washers yet. Might do that soon.

Looks like a fairly nice knife. How’s the action? Does it flick out well?

I’m not currently interested in buying one, but nice snappy action is a must for me personally… hence why I don’t own a CRK. I know they can be snappy, but I like ‘em real snappy.
