Thoughts on the Toor Merchant 2.0

Looks like a fairly nice knife. How’s the action? Does it flick out well?

I’m not currently interested in buying one, but nice snappy action is a must for me personally… hence why I don’t own a CRK. I know they can be snappy, but I like ‘em real snappy.
Oh there’s no comparison, the Toor merchant snaps with authority. It’s actually my favorite thing about the knife. Words can’t describe it, I will send a video shortly showing you.

I'm sorry if that sounds weird, but isn't the handle getting thinner and thinner towards the blade a disaster just waiting to happen?

Never seen a Strider before? Not of interest for me, but people seem to really love that style apparently.

Had one. Literally every screw, including the thumb stud, wasn't tightened and fell out (maybe some credence to the rumor that the components were made overseas, but assembled in the U.S.). Add the questionable borrowing of designs from Half Face Blades, I'm not willing to experience anything from them, any further.

Had an Admiral with screws that were all weird when I got it, but I bought second hand and could tell their "like new" description was obviously not accurate. After I disassembled and cleaned it though it was actually very nice, and a solid knife. What's the Half Face Blades criticism? From what I've seen none of their knives look very all that similar to anything I've seen from HFB.

Can't imagine that. I wouldn't feel comfortable with such a handle design at all. But then again many "post-modern" knives look extremely weird to me.

HFB helped them start out with some processes and material. Toor used it to mimic some HFB designs.

I'm not a big fan of hearsay tarnishing a brands reputation, so I'd love some actual proof to that. As far as I can tell some designs have some vague similarities, but nothing very similar at all. so like, the majority of knife brands that exist. If HFB is getting hung up on some minor details they should probably check themselves on that because they're clearly not a lone wolf in their designs either. But if there's some actual direct design and spec rip offs, that's a different story.

^I also like the tanto version. visually anyways...havent held one or played with one. looks like a nicely built knife for the price point.

I gave mine a round on the Spyderco Sharpmaker (both angles to clean it up), and it came out screaming sharp. Takes a real nice edge.
