Thousand Likes GAW

Way to go on the thousand likes ! ! !
Great knife !
High class idea to celebrate.

Congrats on the thousand likes, rswanson rswanson !!:thumbsup: (I have to confess that none of them are from me, but that's because I'm a 20th century geezer who has never used a "Like button" because they just seem too impersonal to me.)

Thanks for the generous GAW!!:cool: It's hard for me to believe that I first "met" Bob just over 3 years ago. I won a GAW he sponsored just before he was hospitalized for the first time at the start of 2015, and I've carried the knife every day since it arrived. Not only is it a classic knife, but it has worked well for me as a "prayer reminder" of people I want to pray for. Here's a photo of the knife on vacation with me:

When Bob passed away, it was common for folks to say he "lost his battle with cancer", and of course I know what they mean, but I object pretty strongly to that phrase. The way Bob lived with the disease without letting it steal his dignity while thinking of others instead of himself was in my opinion a massive victory for Bob over cancer!:cool::cool::thumbsup:

Anyway, best wishes to all the entrants :D, and thanks for the special GAW, rswanson rswanson !:thumbsup: (I like it, but I'm not clicking the like button. ;):p)

You don't need to click the like button, GT. I know you put a heap of thought and efforts into your posts. I certainly enjoy reading your perspectives on the daily carry thread. Unfortunately for me I don't have the time I'd like to have so like button it is for this guy!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about Bob. I only wish I'd been involved here earlier than I was but his words are still out there for any to read.

Just as a heads up, I'll be closing it down and picking a recipient early tomorrow afternoon. Good night, Porch!

Ok folks, thanks to my daughter, who picked a post number for me, we have a winnah! According to his post, JupiterPaladin JupiterPaladin will be the recipient of his first GEC knife. Please email your shipping address to: walkingthere AT gmail DOT com.

I'd just like to thank everyone for all the kind words and thoughts about the original owner of the knife. It's such a silly little thing, this knife, but for me I t's taken on its own life over the past week. This has been a most rewarding experience and I'm glad it's going to someone to enjoy and (if Bob had his way I'm sure) put to use often.

Congratulations JP and what a generous GAW Russ I also want to thank you for supporting the fund raiser for Bob's grandson that also was a very generous thing you did. Man I miss my friend.

Wow what a great way to start a day! Yes this is my first GEC and I couldn't be more thrilled! I will carry it with great pride my friend. E-mail with my details coming your way :)
